These are the same people that threw a fit when school prayer was finally outlawed.

Prayer wasn’t even outlawed, really. Students can pray all they want, it’s just that teachers can’t make and lead a prayer time

I might of mis-read the article but it says it was one person and his name is Ceu Uk. Doesn’t say anything about him being Christian or part of an activist group. Just wondering where your information came from?

Bro did you really just try to "it's severely unlikely that a man who called in a shooting threat over a club named "After School Satan Club" is a Christian. Especially when his name sounds so foreign-y!" us?

Please list non-secular organizations that are concerned about "trying to turn kids into devils".

Fucking plug your ears and close your eyes some more.

Just a simple question. Where did you get your information from? No need to get all fired up. You are making all the implications, not me. How do we know he isn’t a non-denominational mentally I’ll person living in his mom’s basement?

1

pizzapantifa t1_jb9t5aw wrote

Just a simple question. Why are you so invested in convincing people that the guy who threatened a school for having a club with the name "Satan" in it isn't associated with christianity?

1

Important_Egg_6748 t1_jbe3n4q wrote

I’m not trying to convince people of anything. If he’s a Christian activist, great, I don’t care. I am open to that. You on the other hand are not open to anything other than the fact he is with zero supporting information.

Important_Egg_6748 t1_jbe4vh4 wrote

It is scary when people want to yell and scream in an attempt to silence. Yell and scream when somebody asks a legit question that the answer to might go against their their developed narrative. I answered your question. I am not trying to convince anybody of anything. Just seeking the truth….nothing I’ve said so far is persuasive either way. Now can you please answer my question. Where did you see information that says this guy is a Christian?

The evolution of Satan in Hebrew mythology is fascinating. It just meant "The adversary", and didn't start to take the modern meaning until influences with other religions.

Modestkilla OP t1_jau2rci wrote

I for one wish the club was actually about satanic worship. These knuckleheads that were calling in threats don’t even realize it had zero to do with that. It would take all of 30 seconds to google what the club is about. Anyway I hope this club comes back and most importantly hail satan.

ACLU says "it could."

Is this really what they said? Or did the author engage in lazy passive-aggressive writing?

Either shit (sue them) or get off the pot (stop issuing meaningless statements).

Weary_Ad7119 t1_javtf8i wrote

Media pressure is incredibly helpful to pressure their position before they go to court.

12

nikc4 t1_jaw2jeb wrote

If you read the article, the ACLU is giving them until noon March 7th to fix it themselves. They could. They might not have to.

imjustatechguy t1_jaw0fdz wrote

Choosing to die on this hill doesn't help district kids. SVSD will blow $ on this whole "culture war" nonsense that they could have, instead, chosen to spend on the kids. The best that they can hope for is to find a right-wing law group who'll work for them in exchange for the free publicity (which will lessen damages, when they come, but not make them 0...see Kitzmiller v Dover SD).

2

drxdrg08 t1_jax7sk2 wrote

Maybe ACLU should spend their efforts somewhere else. Like suing someone to change the fact that of kids in the largest school district in the state can't read at grade level?

I thought education was a human right?

Injecting themselves into some situation with a satan club seems like an absurd waste of resources. Kids in Saucon can read.

FuzzyWuzzyFoxxie t1_jaxfw0t wrote

High or decent quality education isn't a right in the United States, so they cannot do that.

Freedom of religion, separation between church and state, and freedom of speech are established and protected rights in the United States with legal precedent.

Everybody is posturing, ASS, the superintendent, and the ACLU.

The Super, who serves at the consent of an elected school board in a conservative area needs to appear to push back against "the devil"

The ACLU is asking the super to blink. "Do you really want to do this?"

Ok, let me pose this question to you. If say I was a student at this school and wanted to start the let’s say “Christ Club” and I was turned down (as I should be) Do you think the ACLU would come to my defense and say it is a free speech issue? If the answer is yes then I will agree with you.
