What if the basement floor is a 1-inch slab poured over dirt? ;)

The house is a hundred years old and the basement frequently got water, but redirecting surface water got rid of everything but the summer humidity from being in contact with soil.

I can't tell if you're serious about drilling out gas jets, but for anyone else reading this, do some research into how precisely these holes are drilled for their intended output. And not just the size - the shape of the orifice greatly influences how much gas flows at a given pressure.

Ah I see. I actually got a farmhouse drop-in from Ikea, but it was wider than my sink base so I had to trim some material out of the neighboring base for the strainer. Then I used wall cabinets to make a coffee bar base with a bar sink, which also required some trimming. To me that seems like a reasonable amount of tweaking. So if you want everything to just fit by default that could be a problem. I still think they are very easy to work with and "customize" with relative ease.

You're absolutely right about the accelerated approval process, but I suspect a lot of the discretion applied for this project was based on the anticipated shitshow of the looming bridge replacement on the Parkway. After that project is complete I am hesitantly confident that they will revisit lane allocation on the Fern Hollow.
