that description could basically make it a high budget, stunt filled network cop show. they've been doing crossovers for a long time.

did you start the show recently? do you know all the plot points of the show? if you started it knowing the later seasons declined in quality then it's kind of like.. why are you surprised?
i'd say finish it. you're 1.5 season away at this point and then you can know you didn't miss any of the good parts of the rest of the show. it had moments.

#35 on their site-wide list of 236,660 titles 15 years after it finished airing makes it incredibly popular. the majority of the shows above it either recently finished, are still running, are recent releases or are other popular shows.
>Our Most Popular charts use data from the search behavior of IMDb's more than 250 million monthly unique visitors to rank the hottest, most buzzed about movies and TV shows.
this is why 'velma' is #20 with 67,000 votes despite only being popular to hate. 'poker face' is #3 with 11,000 votes. they're both recently released and popular for different reasons

you're comparing the viewership of a show airing now to a show that premiered in 2008 and ended in 2013. it's insane even before you take into consideration the rise of streaming and unlimited personal device access
it would be like comparing the viewership of the first season of house of cards (2013) and wednesday. netflix had around 30 million US subscribers in 2013 and has approximately 74 million now. you also need to factor in that it's building on an existing fan base from the game which won't be an enormous viewership bump but it would help
basically it's pointless to compare them in this way

for viewers of the show does wednesday have a shot at any wins? i haven't seen it but beyond it being insanely popular/watched i haven't heard that it was a contender for best drama comedy? apparently

i probably should've expanded but i'm surprised. it's hopefully a good thing because from what i've heard about the three body problem is that it would be hard to adapt to film but i don't know if that's a runtime issue or a "this show gets weird and would be hard to translate" but either way it's good the writers were given enough room to move. so long as it isn't bloat

i usually watch the whole show. i'm just about to finish the deuce which is only 3 seasons but i've watched full runs of other long shows like 24 and Lost. i find it better to stay inside the one world instead of jumping from something prestige to a show that's completely different
i can understand people who can't do that though. it does get a little fatiguing sticking with the same characters for 50-100 hours and the writing also plays a huge part in the longevity of interest but it's still my preference

Reply to comment by FreyrFreyja in Which shows do you think needs a "warning" before watching? i.e. Bad first season, skip X, Y is bad etc by alienfreaks04
i get their point but there aren't many situations it would apply to with movies. i guess the MCU? in which case you could say that it's different because it's 8 movies about 3-4 different characters and each movie has a complete story while being tangentially connected to 2 other movies and its own sequel.
it's like telling someone to watch 8 episodes of 6 different television series but the 9th episode is great. a bad television season is easier to get through than its movie runtime counterpart

fans of "the boys" need to stop pretending that it belongs alongside top tier actual drama shows. it's a disney+ superhero show but "make it weird and adult." take away the gore and nudity and it's pretty much MCU

a year from now would still be too early. we need it max 1 month out from the premier which is presumably early-mid 2024 based on the filming schedule

i always thought the hatred characters like joffrey faced were overstated but there really are people in the world who feel seething rage at fictional characters

i'm really digging the double seasons. it feels like a treat because typically you wait a while for a british show like this to release a season and you get 4 maybe 6 episodes.

it makes you wonder how much tv people actually watch vs how much they think they do. if you're binging a whole season in a day but you've paid attention to 40% of it did you actually watch it?

does the deuce end well? from memory it was cancelled and left people upset but i'm not sure if that was due to lack of a proper closure or just losing a good show. or maybe i'm confusing it with another show like GLOW.

would be weird if the mods saw the threads start piling in and, i don't know, made a thread for people to spam all their favorites in. i know this idea may seem crazy and practically unheard of on reddit so i guess that's why they haven't lifted a single finger to stop the sub from being spammed. silly me

i'm always disappointed when i can't find a recap on youtube because the show is too small. this is only topped by the official recap being completely pointless and half commentary on the upcoming season by the actors.
it was hard to find a channel that i could stand. if it wasn't a super animated voice with a facecam to match it was the person adding in unwanted commentary like jokes.
