None of this would have happened without his approval. Just look at NHI to see the damage control his political appointees like Lenny and Mehul are running that spin machine nonstop to try and contain the fallout.

I feel that comments like this are indicative of a larger issue facing CT. This huge influx of NYC folks especially since the start of the pandemic paying far more for everything because they think it's cheaper than what they were used to, while completely ignoring the fact that the median household income in New Haven is $48,973/yr. Source: https://www.census.gov/quickfacts/fact/table/newhavencityconnecticut/PST045222#qf-flag-X
This is why locals, and transplants from other LCOL areas get annoyed at folks paying $2500 a month for a one bedroom apartment or saying $300 a month is an acceptable price for a gym...
And we see this playing out with housing costs pricing out those of us who make "local" wages.

LCI-Housing is a joke. My 14 month interaction with them resulted in no significant changes in the property, an inspector who clearly did not know what her job was or how to do it, and a city government (Elicker included) who didn't do shit despite emails, texts and phone calls. Voting his ass out of office this year is my top priority. It seems the director is as oblivious as she is confrontational to the reporter about just how lame her division is.
Also, every landlord knows to ignore the USPS letters sent by LCI. The fact they send them instead of using the judicial Marshalls is proof positive that they don't give a rats ass about tenants in this city and just feign ignorance when their investigations die.
The only bright spot in this entire debacle was the actual neighborhood specialist. That inspector documented and followed up despite the city itself throwing roadblocks in her way. If it weren't for her there would be no way I would continue to live in New Haven.

Considering the fact that half the lights in New Haven are no longer functioning as designed, and instead flash red for one side and yellow for the other, this will be the default soon enough!

It's a terrible place to work. Low wages, toxic and abusive employers, zero labor laws to protect employees.
I left NC for an identical job in CT. My base salary went up over 50%, my workload reduced 20%, and I have a Union that has already proven their chops to stop attempts at management from screwing employees.
It's a beautiful state, with very small minded people. If you aren't a hetero, cis white male conservative Christian - WASPs only (and no, Catholics aren't Christians by their standards), you are an outsider and will be treated as such.
Many, many people that I have seen move from other areas to NC ended up leaving after some time because it just doesn't fit their cultural/worldviews.

I wish I had better experiences to report. I can give you Justin Elicker's cell number. Not that it did me any good.

File complaints with the city (LCI). You have to wait 21 days before filing a complaint with the court. The housing inspectors in New Haven are a useless crop, and their management is even worse, but you must have the documentation to actually force action via the courts. Good luck. My experience in this town has been nothing short of a nightmare.

Considering how many catalytic converters have been stolen from this parking lot in recent months, and the fact it is not a public parking lot, I would highly not recommend doing this.

It's not impossible to find a 1 br for the 1100-1200 range, we did earlier this year in a nice neighborhood. Rents are going down after spiking this last year. The market is now being saturated with new luxury builds and the older stock owners which tried to raise rents to basically the same prices are now being forced to come back to earth.

There is no exemption for parking in areas that are clearly marked no parking. This isn't the case of a vehicle being in a legal spot but not paying the meter, etc. This is a case of a car that parks EVERY SINGLE FUCKING WEEKDAY illegally, directly in front of NO PARKING SIGNS, in an area with clearly marked lines on the road telling people NOT to park there. They then end up blocking part of the lane of travel since they aren't in any spot at all!
Show me an exemption in New Haven ordinances or state statute for this shit.
