I live in Bmore and grew up in Rockville and live not too far from SS. Generally speaking, it takes 45 mins if you’re on 95 to 495. Maybe up to an hour or an hour and fifteen minutes. Definitely doable, but can be rough during rush hour.

Depending on where you are in Mt. Vernon, an SP+ monthly parking pass for a garage could be an option (but it’s PRICY).

I get the peace of mind of always finding a spot, key card access to the stairwell, and security via cameras/gated entrance. And it’s only a block from my apartment.

It only works because I chose a living situation in a more commercialized part of Mt. Vernon so street parking isn’t an option.

I love driving so I might be a little bias. On top of my atypical work hours, going up and down I-95 isn’t bad. But on the days I worked 9am-5pm, the commute can be absolute hell.

I used to commute from Rockville to Baltimore (~45 mins) then a year later commuted from Aberdeen to Baltimore (~30-40 mins). And those estimates are on a good day. Traffic, lane closures, accidents - typical I-95 occurrences - extended my commute to 1+ hours.

I wouldn’t check Chasen properties off your list just yet. I recently moved into one of them and have a handful of things to complain about, but I’m still relatively happy with my choice. 225 N Calvert apartments are also another option I’ve seen floating around if you’re looking in that area.
