Well the alternative is to round up a few billion people living in seasonally cold climates and move them closer to the equator.

Back when you could potentially turn the GPU cycles into some cash via crypto it made sense, but it's same as running a space heater.

I really feel this line of thinking. Online discussion was great back in the days when you had to really put effort into having the hardware and access to join in.

Consider that we're currently talking on a platform that also makes significant use of community work to keep things in check.

Not an issue with this pan here since it seems to be some sort of non-stick, but with carbon steel pans you want a removable handle so you can toss the pan in the oven to season it.

Yeah, I'd say it's likely a pigeon as well. Most other birds (including owls I believe) have an oil gland they use to keep their feathers loose and moving freely.
Pigeons have this dust instead, and they make a lot of it.

Yeah this is wild. A device that's designed to be touched should never have this sort of issue. The big companies can make a $15 board that survives almost anything - an expensive board should be safe.

Why is it important an 1080p Tv? What does it do that a 480i doesn't?

There were a few things lost, but for the most part switching to LED was a neutral move to the consumer. They both create light.
A 1080p and 4k screen are not equivalents.

We cannot only think only of the cheapest ways of making power. It's critical to life and modern society that power stays on, and it's okay to pay a bit more for that.

There are a few different ways to design these electrical systems. A cheap one like Christmas lights will flicker at 60hz or 120hz depending on design, both of which some people can detect.
I absolutely hate it.
