Overrated in my opinion. I found it an absolute slog.

Difficult? Not difficult? Who cares? 🤷🏼 I’ve read quite a few classics that while considered high brow, intellectual, difficult, whatever, I thought they were boring as hell but others found very moving.

Doubt it could publish faster than Stephen King though. 🙂

Put away the internet while reading. Seriously, just don’t look at any of your devices. It will destroy your flow.

Reply to Finished the first four Earthsea books, and I have been storing an emotional ramble inside (super long post, sorry!) by yellowyellow2
I remember A Wizard of Earthsea as one of the first novels I ever read as a child. I've recently just reread it and it's the only book I've ever reread. I plan to finish rereading the entire series soon.
As a related point of interest, when I returned to reading again last year, so many decades later, The Left Hand of Darkness was my choice of novel to get me back into it. It's one of the few novels that has made me tear up.

It won a Pulitzer Prize. Beautiful story. 🙂

I was a little down after finishing Lonesome Dove. I felt kind of stupid about it.

Reply to Ursula K. Le Guin's "The Left Hand of Darkness", fourth novel of the Hainish Cycle. by i-the-muso-1968
Anthropological sci-fi as I describe it and Ursula K. Le Guin is one of my favorites. One of the few books I’ve teared up while reading. And don’t forget she invented the Ansible. I recently reread A Wizard of Earthsea and still loved it after decades.

I enjoyed it. But that doesn't mean I have to agree with it or be annoyed by it. I feel fortunate that way.

I’m sincerely glad people like these books. I could barely finish the first one. The writing was awful and story one dimensional and boring. I’m not even a literature snob. Maybe I’M a robot. 🙂

Love Twin Peaks. Haven’t watched the new one though. Back in the day, I lived very close to North Bend, WA. The amount of tourism the show generated was incredible.

I think it’s overrated and regardless of what many say it’s not that complex of a plot. It’s made more difficult than needed because each character is referred to by different names and at least after translation, is very poorly written. My opinion. It’s good to have different viewpoints.
