Oh boy! Guess he forgot to yell "FEMALE ON DECK!" Coulda saved a little embarrassment. Good news is, unless you look weird down there, its all more or less the same.

Every time I brought someone on, it was a learning experience for them. There is so much that is unique about a ship, or boat, when compared to what most folks consider normal.

In your case, sounds like they learned a little more than they were expecting ;)

In Job Corps when the opposite gender entered a dorm, they had to announce it with a shout. That way anyone feeling they may get exposed have warning they're about to be within sights. It was a bit crude, but it could have solved this problem.

Mehh, that's the risk a family takes coming aboard. Granted you should have heard the 1MC but it sounds like a good laugh is all that happened.

My boat had an EM giving his wife a tour. I was in ML head washing my hands fully dressed when they walked in. I gasped very loudly and said "SOMEONE'S IN HERE!" as I covered my already well covered nipples. His wife covered her eyes and backed out as fast as she could while I was laughing. Her husband called me an asshole.

You get real comfortable. Hell, quite a few of us went around grabbing each other's nuts. Submariners usually get their first male to male kiss in a game of chicken. You really stop thinking of "gay" as "liking things up your butt" to "yep, I'm not attracted to men"....which is how it should be anyway tbh

" female on the male tent line" or "female on deck"

Due to numbers. Because we were kids, but in a (semi)serious military situation someone would always yell "with male on top" or similar

It's usually an announcement, "Rig ship for lady visitors. Lady visitors will be onboard until further notice." And requires OOD permission to bring them onboard. And the area OP ran into them was a public passage way.

Never been on a submarine but I've deployed on surface ships. Sleeping stacked 3 high with several hundred men at a time is a bit of a shock at first but then you realize it's actually more difficult to maintain some modesty.
