It's a PAC funded by the Springfield Chamber of Commerce since they can't directly donate to candidates themselves. Hooray for dark money in local politics.

I feel like the politics here with regards to development is a bunch of greedy developers vs a bunch of selfish NIMBYs.
Like the University Heights development: the Sunshine/National intersection is a TERRIBLE place to have a house because of all the traffic. (Source: Me. I lived two blocks from that intersection for three years.)
But also, the developers have ignored the neighborhood and just tried to bulldoze their way through.
Ugh.

Agreed. It’s prime real estate at one of the major intersections in the city. Of course it’s going to get developed. As you said the way developers and the city handled relations with the local neighborhood FUBARed the entire project before it even started.

Bruce Adib-Yazdi is my pick. He may be a developer, but the projects they take on seem to be good for the communities they're in. He was also the Ozark Greenways president for awhile and has been a huge supporter of our local trails and cycling infrastructure.

Agree 100%. Development is useful, but a lot of the local developers are reaping the results of cheap, ugly, dumpy developments that they've sown throughout the city without regard to how they fit into the neighborhood.

Bruce is a nice dude who does seem to be in it for the right reasons. I serve on a local advisory board with him and he's always good for a forward thinking perspective while understanding the nuances of our often resistant-to-change community. Another vote here.

Agree 100%. For those who are not familiar with the Vecino Group, please check them out. I have had the pleasure of doing some work for them on several past projects, and each one was beneficial to the community involved…which is literally one of the requirements for any project to be approved. Bruce is a very nice person.

Yes, but you have to go in person. I believe it's by the courthouse,as in years past, but I can't remember what building

Having to pick between 2 developers for that open seat is going to be like picking a giant douche or a turd sandwich.
With how badly the recent development projects have been managed from a communications and public relations standpoint, no matter your position on the developments themselves, it's hard to see how McClure can make any case he should get another term. Time for much of the city council to go for fresh ideas. That's even ignoring the fact he's already been mayor for 6 years and needs to move on for someone new.
