Dang it! I'm no expert, but when I went I felt Tong's crispy duck was more flavorful, tender and moist than others I've had. I'm bummed you didn't have the same positive experience, but you've inspired me to try some more options around town. I'll definitely put Thailand Station on the list.

Not on weekends necessarily, just special a special pop up menu. They've only done it once, a couple weeks ago on a Thursday, but I've heard rumor there are more smash burger nights in the works. They're good at posting their specials on instagram, so keep an eye out there.

I went last time right as they sold out, so didn't get one, but they looked and smelled amazing.

K Fried Chicken for Korean style fried chicken and other delicious Asian-American fare.

D'Vine Delicatessen for hot deli sandwiches, charcuterie, tapas and wine.

Tried both for the first time within the last two weeks and will definitely be returning to each. Both are on National between Battlefield and 65.

D'Vine would be great for a tasty lunch or a casual date night. K Fried Chicken is excellent comfort food.

Aldi usually has a pretty large variety including a lot of "fancy" cheeses, and they're very affordable.

Last movie I saw there was F9 the week it came out. Bought a popcorn and a soda, also snuck in some airplane shooters since they never sold booze. There were maybe two or three other folks in the theatre. This was my first trip to the movies since the pandemic started and I'll never forget the fun I had that night.

It's a nice facility and I've always had a good experience there. Unfortunately the pandemic permanently changed the way movies are distributed and let's be honest, there are other theaters that are "easier" to attend, with more food and beverage options. Gotta change with the times, and they did not.

Now is a good a time as ever to support The Moxie!

The Riksha, the only place that seems to actually make it spicy.

I really like their Kung Fu chicken which very similar to their general, but with cashews.

Mudlounge has a wide variety of special beers, cocktails, wine, etc. Very chill atmosphere.

J.O.B. has a bunch of taps, an incredible selection of bourbon as well as some of the best bar food around. Pop over to their connected sister-bar Prime Time for some games while you're there.

The Flea is a very nostalgic vibe, aka "dive bar" with friendly staff and a diverse mix of patrons. Nothing crazy on the drink selection, but well priced and a great place to hang with friends or make new ones.

Golden Girl Rum Club for beachy cocktails that are very well made, delicious and strong. Their kitchen also offers unique pizzas, tacos, appetizers, ramen and some other things you won't find elsewhere.

Still had a "coming soon" sign on the building as of yesterday.

Karaoke at Ruthie's on Commercial Street is always a good time. I believe they have it every Friday and Saturday night.

I'm one half of an atheist, child-free, mid-30s couple living in Springfield. You're going to be in the minority, but there are definitely people here that aren't living the stereotype, we're just a bit harder to find.

Keep an eye on events happening in and around downtown and C-street, that's where you'll find the highest concentration of like minded folks. The Downtown Springfield Association website is good resource. Trivia and game nights are often held at various bars/breweries (Prime Time, Hold Fast, Finnegan's, Mothers) and are another great way to meet interesting folks. If you're using dating apps, be very up-front with your views and interests and you may be surprised how many people start conversations in agreement.

Good luck and welcome back. We need more people like you around here.

There are some dedicated hiking trails to avoid the mountain bike traffic. Google "Fellows Lake Trailhead East" and you'll end up at a little parking lot with a restroom, swing set and dock. There's a sign marking the trailhead. I was under the impression that's a different trail than the MTB route, but I could be wrong. When I have hiked it there was no bike traffic on that trail.
