That and the advice to āstay stillā is kinda unsettling
WiseRelationship7316 t1_ix7t5z0 wrote
They are using some kind of professional dog catching service and they told the owners to tell the public not to chase, or call his name because he is likely in survival mode and will run.

Actually, they're quite good. Pet detection is a very involved, highly scientific process.

I get the donāt chase. But donāt say his name?

could trigger something in the dog if he doesn't recognize you
Hooliocoolio14 t1_ix8bgl3 wrote
Then why put the name on the flyer?
Immagitu t1_ixajb5m wrote
So that when you find him, you can tell the owner the name to confirm it's their dog

Witness Protection. The mob is trying to kill him for ratting out the boss.

So if he's with the human who stole him they won't know that you're on to them??

The dog was taken from the parking lot in Wawa on Aramingo. There has to be cameras in that area, his disappearance from the car is just very strange.

they hired a professional dog catching service, and this is what they recommended the family to tell the public
WiseRelationship7316 t1_ix7tip2 wrote
Iām a former dog trainer and Iāve also worked with rescues and Iāve seen the videos of this guy, he seems like a very, very sweet dog, and I donāt know who these professional dog catchers are, because in all my years of animal welfare, Iāve never heard of such people. Maybe she just hired animal control?

Did you call the police? What did they say? Obvisouly Wawa has cameras that woulda seen the suspect. Easy if they were in a car. But folks NEVER leave your animals in the car alone. If you canāt be with them the whole time then leave them at home. Side note. There are GPS trackers you can put on your dog for like $100 a year that connect to the cell network. You can also use AirTags.

$5000 reward? This whole poster seems fishy
WiseRelationship7316 t1_ix7tnjd wrote
Itās not the family is just following some professional dog catchers advice, and they are distraught over the loss of the dog. It appears the dog was taken out of the car at Wawa.
jcake6 t1_ix7x6s8 wrote
Not fishy! Very real. A-hole took the dog from a car in that Wawa parking lot. Horrible
Emcee_Cone t1_ix7xdiu wrote
Thatās absolutely terrible. I apologize, didnāt know the back story. How did they get him? Break in the car? Or did they have the car running with the doors unlocked?
kflan138 t1_ix85t1p wrote
That part wasnāt super clear in their post. Originally they thought the dog got out, when they came out of the wawa, their car door was opened. Iām assuming that they mustnāt be from around here because that wawa may be the second shittiest/sketchiest one in the city (Behind Aramingo Wawa between Cumberland and Huntington) and I canāt imagine even going in, let alone leaving a door unlocked. However, I definitely HAVE had my nervous dog UNLOCK my car doors by stepping on the button, soā¦who knows.
Anyway, somehow they got PPD (or someone) to HELP THEM get the video from wawa (or somewhere nearby) which showed some people who either stole the dog or let the dog out of the car.
Iām going from memory, but these folks seem super invested in finding their dog. Reminds me of Louie all those years back, that woman never gave up and eventually Louie was found and returned.
Edit: English is my first language, itās just early and Iām not quite coherent yet, sorry for typos and offensive grammatical blunders.
