I have seen these tufa tower way out of the water when you can walk around them. This summer the lake will probably be very high and the Tufa will be out "there". I never took any Tufa from Mono Lake for my rock gardens. You can find Calcium deposits out at Pyramid Lake Nevada. A less salty lake, It has huge fish. It is out on an Native American area and is north of Reno NV on the East slope of the Sierra.

Mono Lake is a salty lake (no natural outlet river) that is located on Rt 395, at the end of the hwy 120 out of Yosemite National Park in the East Slope of the Sierra Nevada. It has a great number of "salt flies" and very small shrimp (sea monkeys) It is a place where Pacific sea gull go to breed on the volcanic islands that in wet years are islands. The area is very scenic with volcanic cones, tufa towers (spring fed calcium deposits) It is at Lee Vining California. Due East from Yosemite in Central California.

No. The age of the universe is the same everywhere it is only how we can see it due to the speed of light and our position in the universe. If you were standing 10 billion light years from the Sun on a planet you would be seeing the space from before the Sun or Earth even existed.

Going from Phoenix to Tucson on 10 on our way cross country this park always intrigues me. But usually it is 7:30 in the morning of our second day and we have 600 miles to cover before stopping.

The anvils go stright up and right back down not a couple of feet from the grounded anvil. Shooting a bullet goes a mile and will land almost anywhere depending on the angle of the gun being discharged.

You are obviously a "Hemp" fan. Like I said I am well aware of hemp. If it was a profitable use of "vacant" farm land then those corp. farms would be growing it.

Ultra rich man buys land as an investment. How is this controversial or even extraordinary? What problem do you have with Bill Gates?

I get industrial hemp. Have followed its progress for years. But it is more a replacement for other crops in the Mid US like North and South Dakota, and in Canada. California farm land is mostly too valuable to grow "hemp" Much Soybean (in the south) is also used in spin off industries not just for cattle feed or human consumption.

The "hemp" industry is all the intoxicating flower and not used for rope. The major players are feeling the pinch because cost of land and cost of production are being hit by low per/oz prices and competition. The Black Market has gone away.

Check out all the "pot farms" in the green triangle of northern California that are for sale.
