The report I read was from a different source @/newhavenhousingfund. I am genuinely curious about what was offered by the city.

Also, seems like tent city was up for months and was a place for homeless community gatherings, and food & clothing shares, so I'm assuming they made whichever choice was more beneficial to them at the moment.

It's sad that the city spent many thousands to tear down these tents while these people are cold and vulnerable instead of offering real housing. Only 1 person from tent city was placed in temporary housing. It's horrific whats being done (I read the report on @/newhavenhousingfund)

Shame on the city and the mayor. Don't want homeless people? Increase affordable and safe housing.

Here's another article that shows research & analysis that programs like these aren't beneficial to anyone but the police and state employees, who always see increased budgets from the revamped PR it provides. These social workers and police decrease public safety when it comes to health, especially mental health and substance abuse support: https://newrepublic.com/article/167627/defund-social-workers

Social workers and many health care professionals are also a part of our justice system in some capacity and do criminalizing work. Its not just the police, its the police and every institution that prioritizes police involvement over community care. There is overwhelming research from various institutions and universities showing that vulnerable and marginalized people benefit from police absence. That includes social workers, who often are obligated to work directly with police, which has produced a long legacy of negative results.

There's a district that took that research into consideration and removed both cops and state social workers from their schools - the results were extremely positive for the mental health of both the students and teachers. Our vulnerable populations, especially youth and mentally ill folk, deserve so much better than the program New Haven is planning to implement.

The security folks are pretty active around the parking lot and they're very helpful, I'd go and speak to them if you have any lingering concerns.

There are definitely events, I'd start by looking at the top NH bars on IG and seeing what events they're hosting.

Who ever you choose, avoid BetterHelp. I've heard terrible things about the platform from friends.

I've heard great things about finding a therapist on open path collective & psych today. Best of luck!

It was popularized by working class folks in Harlem and the Bronx, and has been a staple for decades. The demand for the sandwich has exploded due to tiktok and influencers, causing price increases across the board. It used to cost $4-5

If you feel like you were defrauded, you can always file a complaint with the city. I'm assuming they'll need some info but it seems worth it to get your money back, or at least start mediation.

I'm born & raised and though I'm Yale affiliated, I can honestly say that there's still plenty of community spaces and scenes outside of the Yale bubble that make New Haven a great place to live.

The indie live music scene is something we have a lot of pride in and have cool, small music events from time to time. Obviously, pizza and way better soul food than you'll find in nyc. Check out some bars, Elm City Sounds, Atticus, Lower form vintage, Plush96 orange skate shop and the general downtown area to get a sense of new haven for younger people.

Southern Connecticut State has great programs I've heard and translate well to the CUNY system should you choose to transfer. One of my friends did undergrad and grad there and had excellent professors and internships etc.
