Trying to get out to the mountains this week but I’m feeling a bit under the weather rn. I think the baby might have transmitted one of his ancient baby viruses to me.

They do free tournaments every Thursday at the Answer. This is basically their invitational for the best players from there.

The Thursday tournaments are very friendly and low-key. I only went when they had a Smash 64 side event because I’ve never touched a GameCube controller in my life but everyone was really welcoming and the event was well run.

I was so excited for my ChipDrop last year but they couldn’t fit in my alley! Instead I got a wood chipper and have been having a great time chipping away all winter.

What is Get Tight Lounge like? Would it be amenable on a Saturday night to a mid-30s couple who just want to drink a few cocktails and listen to music? There’s a show there Mar. 4 that looks good but I don’t want to burn our one babysitting night of the month if it’s gonna be packed to the brim with college kids partying.

And that polling place was right in the middle of Bagby’s base. If it had been a closer race he’d have probably been pretty mad at them. Of course, they probably knew there wasn’t much risk here.

Bagby has repped a delegate seat that covers close to half the district since 2015, he’s chair of the Black Legislative Caucus, and had endorsements from Kaine, Warner, and local IBEW. It was a lock.

Only a minor portion of the district is in the city, so most voters yesterday had probably never heard of her. As a quick check, about 30% of votes in this district in 2019 came from the city. Rodgers getting 21% in a 4 day campaign against two sitting delegates feels like a massive over performance. She also over performed by quite a bit in the mayoral race. I would bet on her getting into office soon enough.

The Supreme Court’s composition is determined by when people die and the discourse is so ghoulish whenever a justice is sick or elderly.

Yea I imagine the only reason Rodgers jumped in was for the slight boost in name recognition in the region. She should have a better shot at winning Bagby’s seat.

The area libraries are good for this. I’ve used Staples Mill, Fairfield, and Richmond Main. You can reserve study rooms for up to two hours if you want a little more privacy for your calls.

I’ve only been a couple of times but I think Hardywood West Creek might be operating an unlicensed childcare center.

A few notes of color:

-the food options suck. Outside the security it’s just like a Caribou Coffee and a Chili’s, I think.

-there’s a long wide hallway connecting the terminal to baggage claim. It’s very sterile and there’s not much decoration. You’ll see a few poster board advertisements along the wall but that’s about it

-it is not a big airport. Once the rest of your flight’s passengers clear out, it will feel very, very empty

They should give a medal to whoever scheduled their outdoor event for the nicest day in the history of February.

Unless they book it to the suburbs as soon as their kids hit grade school like every generation before them
