I think a backup Elon (or a fleet of them) is exactly why he’s doing this. That old idiom about a man and his wealth (“you can’t take it with you”) may be nearing its expiration date. Imagine Elon-droids still utilizing that fortune 200 years from now, on Mars, in space, fistfighting Bezos-bot, the possibilities are endless

Good Apollo, I’m Burning Star IV, Vol 1: From Fear through the Eyes of Madness by Coheed and Cambria.

There’s a lot of albums I could put down here but this album made me shit my mind as a teenager. I stood in line at FYE to get it on release day, my brother and I popped it in on the home and couldn’t believe our ears. I’ve seen Coheed about 17 times but for me, nothing topped this era. I’d give anything to go back and hear that again for the first time.

Cycles by Frank Sinatra is amazing.

I first heard it covered live in Boulder, CO by the Tallest Man on Earth, and the Spring Standards. here is the video from that concert, a great rendition of a classic song

I went through the same thing in high school jazz band- I was the bass player (I still play) and was constantly improvising over the chords to back up all the other soloists. When it was my turn to solo, I struggled hard with jumping out of my “walking bassline box” and into the “solo box” to improvise different kinds of lines.

Once I started playing in bands and hosting a community jam, playing with all kinds of new players every week forced me to be more reactive, and listen to all the parts (including my bass part) as a whole. That jam was the first time I got out of my head and could listen to everything without thinking about playing.

TYS doesn’t seem to tour terribly often… I feel lucky to have started with BTBAM around Alaska era, 2006 or so, so I got to see them up close in some smaller clubs, even got a bass lesson with Dan Briggs when he was touring with ORBS in 2011. They came through my college town and played the little hole in the wall venue my band played at 3x a month. I wish ORBS got out more, it would be amazing to see them again as they came through town right after the album dropped, so I wasn’t very familiar with their music yet. The next album was incredible but I think they kept it to a few East Coast dates. Anything Briggs touches is incredible

It was unbelievable! That might have been a Valentine’s Day show in Denver… I’ve seen Coheed and BTBAM like 16 times each so i get them a lil mixed up haha. I really only found out about TYS from buying tickets to that show and wanting to check them out beforehand

So the PA system is like an amp. It will have channels for mics or instruments to be plugged in. Each channel has mix and volume controls to get the right mix for your speakers. The PA will run this signal to loudspeakers.

Craigslist or your local Music Go Round/pawn shops should have you covered for fairly cheap. You will need a mic (shure is a good brand), XLR (microphone) cable, speaker cables, a PA unit and speakers

Patagonia has limited but solid denim selection with lifetime repairs/replacement for free.

Unbranded denim is amazing, it takes a while to break them in but you can wear them comfortably for years and years. If i only had one pair of jeans they would be these.

Also, look out for vintage Levi’s at the thrift shops, the old stuff was made better, I’ve had a couple of vintage pairs outlast brand new 501’s
