For me it's Hail to the King by A7X (Avenged Sevenfold) I especially love Coming Home, Heretic, This Means war, Shepherd of Fire, Requiem, Doing Time and St James. Acid Rain and Crimson day gives me the sad feels. Hail to the King and Planets are ok not my all time favorites of the album but I won't complain if they come up on shuffle :3

For any one who doesn't know these songs are all in the same album lul

Game albums are also included cause that's music too. City of tears 😍😭

Hot take: the wall is kinda annoying

The Wall on a head full of psychedelics is completely revelatory. So many songs devoted to such specific, yet universal, aspects of the human condition. I will say I prefer the live version, but I still think the studio version is a 10/10.

A few months ago, I was listening to one of my playlists and No Rain came on. I decided to listen to that whole album since I was only familiar with No Rain and Tones of Home. I was blown away how good it is, but also how many different genres influenced their sound. Just a phenomenal album.

FartGarfunkel_ t1_iybdwjn wrote

When they were signed they only had a song or two so most of that album was written over a short period of time in the “Sleepy House”.

Alter Bridge - Fortress.

Some of their best songs of all on this album, but it includes one of my favourite AB songs - Bleed it Dry, which doesnt get a whole lot of attention.

Greta Van Fleet - The Battle at Gardens Gate

Easily their best work to date, and it closes with such an epic guitar solo in The Weight of Dreams.

RHCP - By the Way

My introduction to this band was through this album and while a couple of their other albums come close, this one just tops them all for me.

It was unbelievable! That might have been a Valentine’s Day show in Denver… I’ve seen Coheed and BTBAM like 16 times each so i get them a lil mixed up haha. I really only found out about TYS from buying tickets to that show and wanting to check them out beforehand

2

Paragon8384 t1_iyabuuh wrote

I haven't seen either of them once 😢.

1

jampapi t1_iyaefpd wrote

TYS doesn’t seem to tour terribly often… I feel lucky to have started with BTBAM around Alaska era, 2006 or so, so I got to see them up close in some smaller clubs, even got a bass lesson with Dan Briggs when he was touring with ORBS in 2011. They came through my college town and played the little hole in the wall venue my band played at 3x a month. I wish ORBS got out more, it would be amazing to see them again as they came through town right after the album dropped, so I wasn’t very familiar with their music yet. The next album was incredible but I think they kept it to a few East Coast dates. Anything Briggs touches is incredible

Pink Floyd - Meddle

And, if we can count compilations, The X-Files movie soundtrack from 1998.

Out of all the Opeth albums you pick My Arms, Your Hearse? I guess all Opeth albums are 10, but I say Blackwater Park, Damnation, or Still Life are better.

5

silentscriptband t1_iy9ltct wrote

Haha true they're all 10s for sure, but My Arms Your Hearse definitely has nostalgic value for me. I also feel like it kind of really kicked off Opeth moving away from the "death metal" sound and more into the progressive Era that would be later refined on Blackwater Park and Deliverance/Damnation.

2

flaccidObama t1_iy9m9ky wrote

Fair point. People tend to credit still life for that, but yes, my arms, your hearse was definitely the turning point.

Swan Songs by Hollywood Undead

That album has ups. It has downs. You can cry to the album and then party to it. I wish I was old enough to party when it was more popular. I hate that Deuce couldn't remain part of HU. Danny is good too but they just haven't been the same since their Deuce era. This is my all-time favorite album and probably always will be.

Blood Was Never Thick As Water by Pouya also ties for first. I just love albums that have that combo of emotions/party feels.

Madvillainy-madvillain, is rap at its finest, amazing beats and production from madlib, and amazing rapping with fantastic writing from MF DOOM

Tusk-fleetwood mac, an immensely personal album that has amazing singing, lyrics and instrumentation

Toxicity-system of a down, amazingly high energy with great instrumentation and not as good singing but it’s still amazing

Pinkerton-Weezer, just a really well made and emotionally honest album

To pimp a butterfly-Kendrick Lamar, amazing social commentary with amazingly unique beats and rapping.

Blonde-Frank ocean, I can’t describe it just listen to blonde

Igor-Tyler the creator, same problem with blonde, you kinda wanna go into both albums completely blind of what they are

Remain in light-talking heads, still seems fresh and new today but also you might wanna go into this one blind

there are lots more, I just can’t name them all and give the gist of why their so good
