I have sympathy for the guy and even the woman to some degree, but fuck, I'm not giving them money. This is the woman's legal defense fund, but they don't admit it and instead focus on the tragedy that does not have a solution measured in dollars. They aren't event poor. Why in the world do people give money to shit like this?

I have had tasty disco fries or “poutine” in the US, but never real squeaky curds outside of Canada. Sometimes the cheese is much fancier and I’d imagine more expensive, but not real fresh curds. Curious if anyone who has spent much time in Canada can vouch for anywhere in town.

There's no reason to believe that's what happened. Real people in this library are being harassed over an inconsequential decision because people with poor information sources think this is important. The purpose of this story is to create outrage where none naturally exists, because it is better for the publishers of this nonsense then discussing things of greater importance.

Consider that the number of Christmas decorations put out by the town of Dedham, which puts up Christmas decorations, is not important. Perhaps if your news sources focus on this stuff, they are not very good.

You come here trashing Massachusetts for high energy prices and posting outdated and misleading articles suggesting that California has brownouts regularly (they don't, that's Texas), while ignoring the consistently poorer performance of lower cost fossil-fuel heavy red states. It's pretty clear from that what your agenda is. If I'm wrong, please clarify what it is you want to accomplish by tarring the reputations of two states doing the most to prevent the apocalypse.

Arguing for increasing usage of fossil fuels is arguing for the apocalypse. It really is that simple.

The request to reduce consumption was voluntary. It’s something called being a member of a community, putting the thermostat at 80 one day a year so no one goes without.
Why is it bad that CA pays their hard earned money for a huge amount of energy from hydroelectric power located in sparcely populated areas just out of state?
You are a man arguing for the apocalypse using pure bad faith.

No, CA recently got in the news because they avoided a brownout despite historically high consumption in a heat wave.
Texas regularly has brownouts.

There’s only so much waste wood and it can also go to particle board. Burning pellets will always pull from a market that also makes pellets out of forests. It’s only carbon neutral on long time frames, if you cut down a tree and plant a new one in its place, it takes a century to catch up.

You didn’t mention insulation, but that should come first. Masssave will give you big subsidies for insulation work and zero interest for the rest.
Mini splits can do the job alone. If you already have vents for AC, you can use a central system instead of mini splits. Otherwise, you might as well shell out for mini splits rather than do vent work. You can keep the old system if you want, but I’d rather clear out those radiators for good.
It’s a big expensive job, but it’s the best you can get.
As for hot water, I just got on demand gas. If you have gas lines already, you can kick that down the road a few decades as heat pump hot water is possible, but expensive.
Just say no to pellets. Not environmentally friendly at all and a pain in the ass.

As some who spent half his life near NYC and the next half near Boston, I'd say the difference is considerable over a season, but not on a day to day basis. Day to day, we experience pretty much the same range of weather, just a couple degrees colder on average. You don't need to buy new clothes or learn how to drive in the snow when you move to Boston from NYC.
However, that two degrees can really catch up with you over the course of the season. Sometimes the same storm will hit both cities, but it will be a snow event in Boston and all rain in NYC. The other big difference is in how long the snow remains -- it isn't uncommon to have a week of thaw in NYC when our snow all stays. Snow farming is a much bigger thing here than in NYC.

By this you must mean a person who thinks gremlins fix the climate thermometers, cutting taxes on the wealthy trickles down, vaccines are a hoax, and immigrants cause all of our problems. Or at least someone who sees a party completely dominated by those folks and thinks "my dad was a Republican so I will remain a Republican."
No thanks.
