I'm like 100% certain that Apple, Google and Meta are making a JARVIS assistant that connects to AR glasses. It would be a revolutionary product and it's actually feasible imo.

I'd build my own humanoid robot, start a business, invest, read a lot, try out full-dive VR, help find the cure to aging, travel etc

I admire your effort but long term there is no hope for this sub. It's doomed. It will become mainstream and lose all of the qualities that made it great. Over the next few years you'll see people straight up posting inflammatory and violent posts on this sub. They will blame us. They will ridicule us. It's inevitable.

yeah the AI will learn the new job in like 1 month. Reskilling will not work.

pretty soon we'll have powerful narrow AIs that will increase productivity by like 5x. Companies won't need to hire as many people.

Nouriel Roubini thinks his job (economist) will get automated pretty soon. I personally think there are some jobs in finance (trading, investing) that might be around for a while because they require human judgement. But pretty much everything in finance/economics will be affected.

I think some of this is plausible, but it's clear you are biased. You seem like a person who's online 24/7 and doesn't really interact with non-internet people. Like what is all this stuff about anime waifus and 4chan and degeneracy? Kinda says more about what you do online than what the typical person does. The regular joe has no idea what any of this is.

Culture and traditions change over time. I don't think there will be a loss of intimacy. There will be new forms of intimacy. There will be more options. In today's world people feel pressured to marry at 30 and have kids by 35. I personally think that's a little antiquated. In the future I can imagine people being very independent, care-free, more bold, more experimental way into their 40s. If you empower people and give them more opportunities, then you'll get much more variance in how people live their lives.

I would bet against this. I think we will have way less marriage, less relationships, less sex, less kids.

imo there are only a few companies that have a real shot at making AGI.
Google / DeepMind / Anthropic
Microsoft / OpenAI
Meta / FAIR
There are smaller companies like Adept, Cohere and Inflection that are doing interesting work.
Others like Amazon, Nvidia, Apple, Tesla, Salesforce, Intel, IBM are capable, but they haven't fully committed to AGI.

Meta's AI research is very good, people are sleeping on them. It's definitely a 3 way race between Google, Microsoft and Meta.

In a post-AGI world there will be new things to do, but they won't be paid, or if they are paid it won't be very much. You could imagine, for example, that there would be a lot of new stuff to do in VR/simulated worlds and perhaps there will be jobs like "world builder" which doesn't exist today.
