Technically it’s off Ella Grasso Blvd, bordered one side by Derby Av/RT 34 and other side by Post Rd.

Consider Elm City Party Bike they can customize a special itinerary and they’re connected to Taste of New Haven Food Tours

And I just saw that East Rock Brewery opened a game garden indoors with corn hole and board games. Armada Brewery does, maybe closer to you.

Goal is to think in terms of “not wanting to get too close to Chapel St or the Green.” If you can walk a bit and coming from Hamden, Fair Haven, East Rock , then I say park on State St.

TKs New Haven (and some other businesses) closed as part of the project that resulted in the College & Crown Apartments.

Hang out at Armada Brewing or Cafe Nine. Check out an exhibition at NXTHVN, Artspace, or Ely Center of Art, see local music at cozy Neverending Books or at the State House. Grand prize if you do the Rock to Rock ride, or do a Taste of New Haven food tour (expensive). Also check Daily Nutmeg on Monday mornings.

Skate New Haven has a cool covered ice skating rink. If Shoreline Trolley Museum is open- has great trolley ride and exhibits. Others will say IT climbing place, too. For carnival junk food heaven go to Fest Faves. Tuesday nights there’s a weekly planetarium show at the yale place, but never been.

Bundle up for Ice Skating in East Rock (Skate New Haven) then warm up with food nearby at the Food Hall and bring it inside the East Rock Brewery to eat there (all right nearby).

Cafe Nine is a great local live music place where anyone can feel comfortable and this Saturday they do a live jazz jam 4 to 7pm; it might even be free (1 block from Barcade). Welcome.

I can totally relate! I second the Westville recommendation including the Pistachio out there or the tables at Edge of the Woods. Downtown, Cedarhurst is great mornings but closes by 3pm. Also what about the tables at East Rock Market (it’s a Food Hall)?

I disagree with “avoid NH Public Schools,” although I’m not surprised as that’s been the easy response-reaction for decades. As “marche” pointed out above many families have a powerfully good education, and yes that even happens in Fair Haven, the Hill, and Dixwell, wow. And NH just contracted teachers for long overdue raises so hopefully that’s another plus. New Haven Promise Scholarships should also cause any family with school aged children to consider NH.

The only thing I can add is it appears Tweed has the ability to restart that downtown parking shuttle for busy periods and it’s worth checking their ParkHVN site the day before this high-travel weekend in case they do. Separately, the Park New Haven website (different) lists the city’s garages and I was surprised the bigger ones are expensive ($18 daily) you’d still need to Lyft over; don’t use Uber.

New Haveners 40s and older often have an extra NY Rangers affinity from years of having the New Haven Nighthawks, their AHL farm team (the arena is gone).

Grab lunch to-go from East Rock Market food hall, then climb the Giant Steps up to East Rock summit, then hike a trail down to East Rock Brewery for that beer. That’s basically a loop and the brewery now has a corn-hole-type game section indoors.
