I guess it depends on your lifestyle. According to https://www.adp.com/resources/tools/calculators/salary-paycheck-calculator.aspx that will be about 3300 after taxes per month, less if money is taken out for health insurance/retirement. From what I see on Zillow you'd spend about 1500 on a 1 bedroom apartment, another 200 on electricity, then car payments and insurance (400????), cell phone (50??), and you'd have about 1150 left for food/clothes/stuff/fun/savings per month.

Can it be done? Absolutely! Will it be easy and relaxed? Not so sure...

Some people are mentioning Oakland Beach. I moved to RI a few years ago, and I'm a bit surprised that it hasn't been bought up by property developers yet. I mean, we're talking about relatively cheap real estate, surrounded by marinas, on a little peninsula surrounded by the water, with a beach, 10 minutes from i95. The air traffic doesn't really go over it, and right next to it are the mansions of Warwick Neck. It's 15 minutes to downtown Providence, and an hour to Boston.

Keep in mind that the trend is for sea levels to rise, and storms seem to be more frequent. That will impact the cost of your flood insurance, and the resale value of your house over time. Flood zone was a hard no for us when we moved here, even though your realtor might tell you otherwise. Your realtor only makes money if you buy something, and since there's very little actually on the market they're not going to tell you that half of that is a bad idea due to flood zone concerns. Also, coming from Colorado pay attention to mold. A metric shit-ton of houses we saw had some type of mold issue. In Colorado that is much less of a thing. We had a separate mold inspection, which was worth the few hundred dollars they charged.

Radio car commercials in RI have taught me two things:

-I will never ever ever ever ever buy a KIA. Ever. Fuck that commercial. Swaaaaaaaaanseeeaaaaaaa. Fuck.

-I will probably never buy a Mitsubishi either, because that other dude is flexing that while all brands have nothing left to sell, he has his whole lot full! That tells me all I need to know about the desirability of Mitsubishi vehicles.
