They also didn't want an Arab revolt. The Jewish community leaders and the Arab community leaders would sit down regularly with the British authorities, who were just trying to stop stuff from getting blown up, both literally and figuratively. No wonder the British ran for the exits as soon as they could.

The chart does have a grain of truth. CT has all kinds of BS fees and taxes. We have a business entity tax, occupational tax, high filing fees, etc. This is a result of the fact that suggesting any increase in the income tax is political suicide. The $$$ has to come from somewhere.

Looking for my 1971 VW 411 that was my ride then. The following year they started bricking the thing over and turned it into a pedestrian mall. One of the mason tenders hooked up with one of my housemates. That's all I've got.

We need to build more housing units, especially at the lower end of the price spectrum. The market isn't going to fix it--it is much more profitable to build high-end houses. There is going to have to be some kind of intervention at the state government level to get more housing units built--apartments, condos, 1500 sq. ft single family homes.

Right. This is an enormous issue because many who develop psych issues in the military wind up with general discharges, so the ones who have the greatest need for those services are cut off from them.

Their recording setup was basic--it just wasn't a lot of studio time for them to bang out enough songs to make an album. Production and post-production were pretty minimal.

Yes--Milford is a small community hospital that does a lot of elective procedures, but is fully equipped, and is fine for most purposes. Yale-New Haven Hospital in New Haven is a top flight teaching hospital with two campuses in the city, and is affiliated with Yale Medical School. Any case at Milford that requires expertise and/or facilities beyond what they have will generally be transferred to YNHH. I have experienced some health complications of my own over the years, and all of my treatment has been at YNHH. The really serious stuff gets handled at the original York Street campus. The St. Raphael's campus is a smaller hospital that YNHH bought out a few years ago, but I have had treatment at both. I would put the York Street Campus on the same level as Mass General or NY Presbyterian.
