There are plenty of people in this discussion who have gone considerably beyond 'apathy' into being pretty damn ghoulish. Which is what the comment that you replied to pointed out.
If you're not one of them, then no one here is talking about you, beyond the fact that you apparently felt the need to pop up and defend them.

No one is saying that you need to be 'shocked.'
Maybe just don't, you know, take time out of your day to make a big deal about how happy you are that a couple 20 year olds got killed doing something stupid.

They currently have a studio listed at $1700 on trulia. It's not as bad as I remember it being but it is definitely out of line with the neighborhood.

It's super overpriced for the neighborhood. Like, criminally.

>Okay, but here's the thing. If an electrician comes to your house says your house is safe then your real estate agent is going to believe them, they aren't the expert, the only thing they can do is get another opinion.
Sure. In this case I don't think it's necessarily on the cops that they took her away from the hospital initially-- that's indicative of a fucked up medical system that is using the police as a tool.
But that doesn't excuse the attitude of the cops-- the huge amount of total dick behavior and absolute callousness on display here that led them to ignore her worsening symptoms and make her last moments so horrible.
Both systems are sick. No one gets off the hook here.

Upon further reading, it sounds like she was 'treated' to the extent of their legal obligation and discharged against her will. Everyone thought she was being dramatic and the police were called to remove her.
Just seen as another 'dumb nuisance patient' who doesn't know what they're talking about, I guess.
allhailthehale t1_jams2tg wrote
Wait, she was arrested for trespassing because she wouldn't leave the hospital? Did she go there for medical treatment? The article isn't clear.
If so, that's just the cherry on top of this super grim story.

The Armory was a badly implemented, thrown apart non-solution that isn't meeting the needs of the people it was serving. It doesn't even have indoor bathrooms, for fucks sake. Seems like it was a pretty transparent attempt to move the unhoused people from downtown into... wherever they could-- in this case a heavily used neighborhood park. So in that way, yeah, I'm in agreement with WBNA. It's not a permanent solution, and I suppose it's not going to serve anyone to let the state act like it is. So perhaps a firm deadline is a good approach.
But I also live across from the park, run there nearly daily as a woman, and I think a lot of these complaints are totally blown out of proportion. Are there unhoused people clustered in groups hanging out? Yes. Is there some kind of dramatic increase in sirens and crime? Nah, that's just WBNA being.... WBNA.

Those people wanted attention. This guy already has attention, because he's reasonably successful. What this guy wants to sell tickets, and presumably not just to the 'grooming teen girls is fine' crowd.
Two different things.

You've posted like a dozen times in this discussion.
It seems like you're the one who doesn't have anything better to do besides carry water for some dude who has a mountain of evidence saying he's a total creep and predator.
Why do you care whether people are looking at the evidence against him? Why is it so important to you that no one talks about this guy? This weird resistance to talking about it is how sexual predators operate.

I think it's because they all work together so much so there's a sense of solidarity. Lots of paramedics are pretty on board with the thin blue line stuff too.

Thin blue line in the background, of course.
Edit: like at this point, I see a thin blue line decal as an overt "fuck you" to anyone who dares to criticize the police. Sure, I understand that he's in a position of leadership and part of that is showing pride in the department he's leading. But there's other ways to do that. Thin blue line is an overtly political statement at this point and signals to the community that he's not receptive to feedback or accountability.

No way. It tears up the trails and is disruptive and dangerous for anyone hiking. Designated off road trails-- fine. But otherwise, definitely not better.
