Except that’s not how this bail out is working. But keep on spreading misinformation. That’s what Reddit’s good for.

No one on Reddit saw this coming. Most people on Reddit don’t even understand what happened. And the WHY is extremely important. It lets us learn and prepare for next time.

It’s Reddit. “Bank bad” is all they know. Heaven forbid anyone put any effort into actually understanding what is happening in the world. Knee jerk reactions win the day around here.

But they had a risk management team, it just did not have a full officer in charge.

Cute answer. Still doesn’t address the fact that the guy won’t (and can’t) back it up. But Reddit gotta Reddit

Essentially yes. They were over-invested in “safe” investments that lost lots of value when interest rates stated climbing.

You have an authority on that? Cause google says otherwise. Curious where your information is coming from.
Edit: the lack of an appointed “risk management chief” does not mean SVB did not have a risk management team. It had one. That team just did not have a full officer running it. Guess these distinctions are lost on people around here. Nothing new.

Problem with SVB was that they were too cautious. They had a massive portfolio of low interest real estate mortgages and were left holding the bag when interest rates climbed. But this is Reddit and what really happened doesn’t matter.

I found it curious the article lacked any details about exactly where the wings ended up. There must be a high volume end buyer that was buying them from her. Or something along those lines.

I’m 46. Been launching loads since I was around 12, so 34 years. 34 * 365 = 12,410, and I guarantee you that more often than not I launched more than one load a day, so I’m probs getting close to 20k.

Regular season runs May to September. That’s 5 months. Add in pre-season and post season and you’re going to get 2+ more months for a total of 7+. Clearly not a 3 month season and clearly not structured so the players can get pregnant and have a baby in the off-season.

It’s only “cheap” in comparison to my Yeti coolers. Zero complaints on my new Igloo

I disagree. Bought an Igloo marine cooler earlier this year. Think it’s 90Q. Cost under $100. For the price, I’m thrilled with the quality. My Yetis still get most of the work done, but for a cheap backup that Igloo is spot on.

Things were really dark in Europe in 1941. The UK was holding out, and German really would have struggled to actually invade that island, but the only major combatant still standing other than the Commonwealth was the Soviets. But for Hitler being dumb enough to break the non-aggression pact and invade the Soviet Union, Hitler could have sat back and economically strangled the UK. That war goes really different if the US doesn’t join.

Or we had a massive population and massive industrial capacity and essentially supplied the Allies with vast amounts of war material. Don’t kid yourself into thinking WWII goes different without American involvement.

I was trying to figure out how that odd number worked. The polygamous, multiracial, incestuous siblings had me confused too.
