Well, there's at least 4 additional options in that instance: 1) foot the uber bill yourself, 2) check what the agreement says in the lease amount snow removal - file a complaint if they've exceeded SLA, 3) look for a new place to live that treats snow removal as a priority or 4) look for a new employer.

To clarify, when I referenced management company, I meant the building's management company who didn't plow the parking lot in a reasonable manner.

Obviously the employer would expect the worker to be on site in CT after getting 3-6" of snow. Regardless of what you think about Amazon, they are not responsible for the employees' choice to live in an area where snow removal is not a priority. Still need to be at work on time.

Sounds like the complaint should be with the management company, not the employer. She should walk to a passable road, call an uber and send the bill to the management company. Not an ideal situation, but an easy workaround to avoid termination.

By slowing down, you are inviting the person to drive around and pass you, whereas continuing on at the speed limit, or speeding up, makes it more of a challenge for the aggressor. Remember, we're not talking about traveling along in the left lane of a highway in this situation.

As far as your fight or flight response from behind the wheel of a moving vehicle, I'm glad you learned your lesson, however, you should always be prepared to defend yourself without having to worry about somebody intimidating you on a roadway.

Like I said, do whatever you feel is needed and the safest response for yourself in the given situation. If you allow yourself to be intimidated by somebody riding your ass, and respond by accepting such intimidation, by all means, go for it.

In my opinion, it's far more dangerous to react to a threatening driver by increasing your speed (driving faster, breaking the law and now taking on additional responsibility for that action) when you are already abiding by the law, than decreasing your speed, while still abiding by the law, but, to each their own. Everyone needs to consider their options in these situations and I will continue handling it in a way that I feel is safest.

Values are going down now, from the peak a couple months back, sure. Rates have dipped back below 7%.

From CNBC:

Home prices fell in September on a month-to-month basis for the third month in a row, though the decline wasn’t as steep as in July and August. While prices usually drop from summer to fall due to the seasonal slowdown, they fell much more sharply than usual in 2022.
Prices are now down 2.6% since the end of June, which is the first three-month drop since late 2018 and the steepest such drop since the financial crisis of early 2009.

It's relative though. If you sold your home for 2M and it's now selling for 2.5M, that's not surprising. If you sold for 500K and it's now selling for 1M, without any reno, that is unusual, for CT at least. The average home value has not doubled in 20 months, more in the range of 20-40%.

Do you want to be near the water? That's an absolutely beautiful house, but the location isn't all that close to the ocean, relatively speaking, for Westbrook. At that price point, many want and can easily be within steps to the ocean. However, that home closer to the beach would be 2-3x that purchase price.

Another question to ask your realtor - did they do any updates in the last year to justify doubling the asking price from when it sold in February 2021? The listing doesn't mention this and judging by the kitchen, I'm assuming the answer is no. The market is way up, sure, but nearly doubling asking price in ~20 months, without significant upgrades, seems extreme.
