We just put in vinyl plank flooring last year and it looks a lot like wood. It is not my first choice but we have and will always have large hairy dogs and it is durable and easy to clean. I would get a Rubbermaid floor duster for the dog hair. Works great and quick. This is what we use: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Rubbermaid-Commercial-Products-18-in-Microfiber-Flat-Mop-Kit-FGQ101-20/202229415.

BTW: Kackjelly is right on good quality house supplies. You can't go wrong with Pyrex and Lodge cast iron but there is a learning curve and be sure and learn how to properly season it. Makes all the difference.

Mixer: Love my Kitchenaid stand mixer and a great time to buy it with holiday deals, It will last a lifetime.

Best of luck with you new home and Congrats!
