I wasn't here. I saw pics. It's cool they did that.

>I heard at a neighborhood meeting we won’t get any help, support for having the road resurfaced

I heard the same. That's why they cold patched it. It takes less than a hour.

Any chance you'll repair the potholes at Caton & Joh? One of my crew trucks took a hit there. Busted the axle. I talked to a friend in DOT. A crew cold patched it last year. You still got open requests for it. It's a 1'x4' hole. You & I know that's not the right way. You gotta clean the hole and use hot mix. Bottom line you need to resurface the road.

I just made another post about Edmondson-Westside. Tbf I don't think most paents in that area can get their kids to schools outside the zone. I live close to there. It's car centric but not a lot of car owners.

Civil engineer here. Bachelors plus 5 years experience. Your pay is lower than standard for this area. I got my degree in TX. First job in a state with a lower cost of living. The pay was higher. Higher = higher quality workers/higher quality work AND less corruption.

My company works on some city subcontracts. BUT I push for private work and work outside the city because most your workers and vendors are shady. Costs come in too high. Materials substandard. Timeliness padded.

You need to review financial priorities. This is crazy. No decent engineer is going to take 80-90k starting for supervising work. You'll wind up with somebody's nephew/cousin/boyfriend who doesn't know the work.

I went to the annual meeting about this. DPW is behind on fixing the sewer system. PLEASE send comments. ESPECIALLY if you or your neighbors had flooding in your basement or sewage backup into your basement. ESPECIALLY if you're in the south/southwest part of Baltimore. I met a ton of peeps going through the same thing from Morrell Park and West Port.

Here is the report. Read it first. Consent Decree Report

Here is the email address to send comments: DPW will accept public comments pertaining to this document for 30 days, through February 17, 2023. Comments may be submitted directly to Michael.Shipman@baltimorecity.gov.

Wait. What's up with the Romani hate? AFAIK these people are straight outta west baltimore. They're trashy and loud. Nobody said anything about race or nationality. Are people really using 311 to get rid of "Romanis" for no reason? Or did you use 311 to report trash and it happened to be Romanis making the mess. Why even mention race? Now I feel like an ass for even posting about it.

Unfortunately I'm in Porter's zone. She's worthless. Less than worthless really. I called her office about above ground pools at abandoned houses over the summer. Literal cesspools filled with mosquitoes and dead rats. I got fined. Nothing happened to the pools. I think she and her group take the "spam 311" approach on people who complain.

I called 311 about the trash. So far no fine. The house is owned by the state. Do they care about fines? I'm friends with the neighbors. BUT at this point people know if you call 311 here you get yourself fined.

It was criticism. Not personal. I didn't post a name or license plate or personal info. I posted these 2 people moved here in 20xx. They got cozy with the dude was councilman back then. AND cozy with xxxx truck companies. Then zoning changed so xxxx trucking companies could build in a residential area. AND I posted the link to the campaign reports in my second comment. 1/4 of fukking neighborhood moved out because they start sh!t with anyone who criticized them.

a few months back I posted the actual fines I get. OK. My bad. Remove that because it had her name as reporting me for "trash can lid being not completely closed". BUT my comment yesterday had 0 personal info. It was city zoning committee details. People could research if they wanted. If you run for office you open yourself up to that. Be transparent.

The other thing is mod maiios. When xxxx person or her alt or her supporters or her trolls or whoever they claim it was dogpiled people from xxxx neighborhood for criticizing her. AND for calling out blatant lies. Screenshots of maiios stanning for her were all over that group chat. It was beyond. I wish I hadn't deleted it. It was literally maiios telling xxxx or her alt how to get people banned from the sub. Then xxxx sending screen shots like "f off even the reddit mods love me".

exact same thing on the neighborhood nextdoor. She made herself and her alt admins. Banned anyone who criticized her. Claims everyone loves her because no one ever writes different. spoiler alert - we can't complain there. we're all banned. Meanwhile 4+ truck accidents every day because the damn roads aren't made for trucks.

it's your sub. You can read what I wrote. not personal info.

lol, you're a mod in this sub. I didn't even mention her name yesterday. My comment pointed out when she moved here. What she ran for. What zoning changed. Who gets fined. Why the neighborhood's being destroyed.

tbf you're not the mod who was dogpiling me and someone else. BUT you can see what's removed in the sub. Can't you?

Go for it. I see criticisms of certain fav politicos removed. Race discussions stay around. Be respectful about it. Doubt you'll be kicked off reddit. Or even have your post removed. Mixed race trans woman here. Grew up here. Left for college in TX. Came back in 2016ish. Happy to partake in the discussion.

What's the deal with the traffic/planning master plans? When I left (2014) Violetville/Morrell Park had a master plan for Wilkens/Caton/I-95/Washington to prevent too many trucks and save the green space. Look at it now. massive construction. Constant heavy truck traffic. No improved infrastructure. No widened roads or changed signals. How does that even happen? 4 major projects in 2 years IN THE SAME AREA. All paved over green space for big trucks.

I'm in the same area as u/Animanialmanac.No one can get traction with DOT because we're not connected to the council person. Porter doesn't give a shit if isn't the tiny part of Pigtown where she lives or the one block here where her friend lives. My block was supposed to get sidewalks regraded because the tree roots buckled them. Project cancelled. Why? I know it's not streets but sidewalks is under Transportation. I work in the business. The sidewalk fix is a 2 week job max. The sidewalks are dangerous. What's up?

Do you mean a public bar that has a speakeasy theme? Google it. Or do you mean an actual speakeasy/unlicensed bar?

There's a lot of unlicensed bars in southwest Baltimore. Some hookah, some weed friendly, some just liquor bars. You have to know someone to take you the first time because it's usually in the basement or second floor of a rowhouse.

Not to be rude, your friends sound like assholes. The whole point of a secret bar is to share it with your friends. No regulations. No dealing with crowds you don't like. Smoke cigars, weed, hookah inside with your friends and chill. Whatever. If your friends talk about doing all this but then don't tell you where and don't invite you. EITHER they're assholes who are showing off in front of you because their assholes and not friends. OR they don't know what they're talking about and making it up.

Lollipop is a cigar bar, you just email Atlas for the membership forms. It's mostly old white guys in the construction trade, plus maybe some Sinclair stooges. Bobby's Jazz Club was 1000 times better for cigars. I miss that place.

I'm the de facto block captain for my block. I was volunteered into the role by my older neighbors. I don't have kid so I guess they think I have free time. I escalated complaints about trash pick up skipping our block. I put my name and email in the 311 request. Immediately fined. AND fined again when I complained about being fined. The system is corrupt.

I live near MidAtlantic Metal in the county. The county scrap yards don't take converters the way the city yards do. I had a grill stolen from my city backyard. I tracked it down Wilkens to the city scrap yard. The county yard is 1/4 mile away. BUT they require ID. I'm not big government. BUT if the city enforced the law on scrapping we'd have less metal stolen. I can't even have metal patio furniture. Scrappers steal it in days. Sims and Decker accept trash cans full of stolen metal from addicts all day long. County scrap yards don't do that.

I'm near the city county line. The county cops told us the scrap yards have to get driver license info from anyone selling metal. ESPECIALLY cat converters. They have to hold converters for 3 days. Cops check the scrap yards when someone files a stolen converter report. That's state law. CITY cops it's totally different. They dgaf. The city scrap yards don't hold converters. Cops don't follow up on the stolen converter reports. The county cops told us criminals are stealing converters out in Baltimore, Howard and AA county. Then bring them to the city scrap yards to sell.

My shop is on Wilkens near a scrap yard. I know the dudes at the scrap yard. They literally don't hold anything or ask for ID. City cops don't do anything about stolen stuff in the city. It's crazy.
