Skiing is huge in the alpine countries. Switzerland and Austria have a huge skiing culture. Just look at footage from Adelboden this past weekend.
The Olympics are special, sure. But the big crystal ball is in every way more prestigious. Olympic ski slopes don‘t even hold the same prestige as the Lauberhorn or Streif. China held a great olympic ski event cause they built quite a spectacular slope, but generally the olympic slopes are quite shit because they are forced to be held on non ideal mountain slopes where not much is possible.

You mean Janica, right? Because Ivica I would not equate to slow gliding haha.
Although I was very young when they were still active, so memory might be a bit foggy.
