Because it's really hard to do right. To find that balance between the enemy that is completely unaware you're killing his buddy 2 feet away and having the enemy share a hivemind so if one of them sees you in a bush the entire map knows your exact location instantly.

When it works it works but a lot of games have tried and done poorly and it's put the scare in a lot of developers when it comes to taking a chance on something so haphazardly successful.

Why would they?

There's a lot of reasons someone might want to play a female character. In Fallout 4 and 2077 because the female voice actor is hands down better. Sometimes the gear is cooler looking. Maybe you just want to. Even if you usually play as a male maybe it's your second playthrough and you want to try both protagonists.

Consequently, I feel like if you're playing as a female on an online game and the character creator sliders are generous so you make them fat assed and physic based enormous breasts and then run around being a stereotype you're likely NOT going to be popular among female gamers.

Epic will make deals with people for various reasons, timed exclusivity is one they practice. Steam used to as well but for some reason stopped doing it a couple years ago. Then, like I said, if your game is made in the unreal engine they offer additional benefits. It would be hard to pin down an exact amount you would be paying without taking all that into account. 30% is just what it costs by default.

Competition.

If you buy a game for Playstation there is only 1 market. If you go find a physical disc somewhere on sale then you'll get it for that price... but on PC you've got a dozen popular marketplaces and ebay steam keys and humble bundle and Fanatic.

Usually you can get a new release for $40 or less within' a month or two of launch if you do you're diligent.

Damn, sorry to send you in the wrong direction there. Wait until after the holidays... and maybe tax return season.

They were in stock not but a month ago. I got an e-mail from New Egg that had Zotac and 2 other 4090's with a huge heading that said "4090's back in stock".

I suspect the disruption will square itself out when we all go back to our seasonal depression in February.
