Reply to Hypothetically, if most jobs were to become obsolete from the AI revolution overnight, what would be your contingency plan? by [deleted]
Why have a contingency plan for an unfounded fantasy? If I'm lucky enough to get another day, I assume it will be filled with the same labors as today and yesterday.
If that changes unexpectedly, I'll wing it as per usual.

Lol, no. Isn't that bot based on open source code? That Google contributes to? Take a minute to think about why companies contribute to open source efforts.

Fair enough. I'd probably tinker around the house, maybe build that back patio area I keep putting off. Who knows, take up golf if I get really bored.

When there is no longer a need for you labor, why would you assume there would be an abundance for you to live in?
There's a much darker, and more likely, alternative to consider.

I'm guessing you've not worked on hardware platforms before. They do, indeed, get old. They break, sometimes fairly quickly. They will need to be maintained for their entire lifespan.

I think you've nailed the types of robots we're likely to get. They will likely be scraping data and serving up ads like every other piece of technology that tech companies like to deploy.
