Oh wow that’s funny. I’m from Staten Island and just assumed that was the case cause so many people said it. I guess that explains why I knew of only one kids pops who was a cop and literally nobody I know socially who is.

Don’t get me started lol How do all those illegally park cars by the berry homes and baci not get ticketed? Im pretty sure a majority of that stretch has no standing signs. But yet there’s cars just legit parked there all the time lol.

That would make it worse. Most of the major roads/main arteries are already only 2 lanes wide if that. A majority of the time you have to serve in and out cause people are doubled parked or straight up illegally parked in one of the lanes lol

It’s funny I know there is a lot of cops and firefighters in Staten Island. But growing up I only knew of 2 kids who’s fathers were a cop or firefighter.

A combination of commute times, a lot of people with kids and a huge part of the borough working a blue collar job where if they aren’t at work they don’t get paid.

Even if you’re the lucky few who get to live and work a reasonable job on the island traffic is a nightmare. The islands road layout wasn’t built for 500k + people. It can take you a good hour or better to get from one side of the island to the other on a moderate traffic day. It sometime takes me longer to get to my parents crib in the middle of the island by car then it does to get to midtown.

The road problem might be a lost cause there’s no way to fix that without demoing peoples properties. But more train routes within the island at the very lease will help a lot.

It’s the no before that fucks with me. How was there anything before the big bang if there was nothing. And if there was something it’s the chicken before the egg question.

Something tells me this whole thing is more science fiction then not lol

I think the reality is a little more science fiction then not. We has humans have a very finite ability to think about these existential crisis as a whole. Almost like a road block in our brains thinking about how and why this whole thing came about. There’s even recent cracks in the theory of the Big Bang if I’m remembering correctly. We can only pin point the start of everything into some particles flying around in a void. But we cant figure out beyond that. What is a void without a universe, where did those particles come from, if they didn’t come from somewhere how have they always existed etc

I wouldn’t be shocked if this whole thing is more like Horton hears a who, the matrix , or even the aliens playing with marbles in men in black.

Could be like interstellar where we’re just on some continuous time loop always living the past and the future simultaneously and you start fresh a new at the end of the line.

People start thinking about existential crises and freak out. But for me its exciting. Cause we don’t know now. But we might all find out eventually.

Yeah really wild how now a lot of places close real early. I work construction and am usually out and about between 4-5am. Before the pandemic no matter the neighborhood there was places open I could grab some food and drinks that early. Now I have to walk it seems 2-3 avenues away to find a spot open/still open that early.

They must have realized the profits they were making being 24/7 didn’t make sense to the cost of staying open 24/7.
