Oh, maybe this is it: the Howard County Mobile Crisis Team (MCT) at 410-531-6677. MCT is a two-member team of mental health professionals whose primary objective is to assist people in handling and managing emotional, traumatic or psychiatric crises. MCT is available 9:00 a.m. to 11 p.m. seven days a week.

My first thought was - didn’t HoCo spin up a mental health emergency line, like 911 but for things that don’t need police, instead mental health help. So it doesn’t turn into a news-worthy type police encounter.
And then I couldn’t remember what the number for it was. So, you know, not useful when you need it. And then I tried to Google for it, and also couldn’t find what I was looking for. So, if this does exist, hopefully it’s where the non-emergency people route the call.

Age is not a protected class until after 40. At least for employment. But, even the fair housing act allows 55+ communities with no kids.

Have you tried local shelters? My dogs came from Baltimore County (German Shepherd Dog) and Anne Arundel county animal control (Jack Russel).
I have similar thoughts on rescues. I get why they are so particular, but… we never “qualify” for dogs. Right now, it’s because we don’t have a fenced yard. Before, because we had a semi-feral cat.

Please know, I wasn’t defending it. I discussed this with my H many times. And I’m just using the word discuss here so as not to discuss our fights online.

I am not excusing, because it would drive me batty. But in our old neighborhood (not Columbia) our nightly dog walk routine involved passing a poop station, walking down to the water, the turning around and coming back. If my dog pooped once we passed the poop station, my husband would set the bag on the ground/curb to wait for his return. He did always grab it on the way back up.

Vet the group, go with international relief agencies like the Red Cross, International Rescue Committee, etc. Thousands of people have died. People are not funding terrorism with well vetted organizations.
FineWinePaperCup t1_j7riry6 wrote
Keep in mind relief organizations need money. Things are logistical burdens (transport, storage, sorting, sanitizing, distribution), where money lets them get what they need when they need it.
I get it, things just feel better. But money is the most useful.

FTR, I was completely serious about my question. I could not discern what you were asking about being just long reach. May have seemed obvious to you, but wasn’t to me.

You may want to clarify your question. Is what just long reach?
-
bathrooms locked?
-
substance abuse?
-
a parent night on the issue?

We have this one: https://store.antennasdirect.com/ClearStream-4MAX-Outdoor-TV-Antenna.html
We tried inside antennas, but were very disappointed. I friend convinced me not to give up and mount one on the roof. We did and it did not disappoint. We get all the networks from DC and Baltimore. It’s pointed toward DC, because I read you want to point toward the furthest you want to receive. But same friend told me that’s not true. The only issue we have is on windy nights, when we get some stuttering.
Our house is one story. We have one large tree nearby (in front of it), but fairly clear after that.

I commute to Rockville, only once a week. It’s 40 minutes each way. Mall area to Shady Grove & 270.

Yeah, but only one recommendation so far. A while back, I got a list from the Tile Shop, like 4 local guys who install tile, not full companies with that overhead. I lost that list, but I think I may swing by and ask for a copy again. I feel like there is a stack just sitting near the registers.

FWIW, I think black ice is more of an issue with sidewalks than road. The roads are well treated. But every year I hear of someone who hits a patch of ice walking and wipes out. Happened to me (no injury) a couple times on the Wilde lake path. Looked that wet, was actually frozen wet.

My problem is similar to most complaints about undocked scooters - being left everywhere. I bike a lot around Lake Kitt and downtown, and having to swerve to avoid wrecking because someone left a scooter in the middle of the trail. Not a good look.
So while they might have been fun, like so many things, a few people not thinking ruins opinions.
