That edit wasnt there when I initially responded- so that’s my misinterpretation. Glad it was not a hit and run, with that context added, the pizza is a nice suggestion

OP should have stopped and checked on the people- not hit and run

….. why didn’t you stop, apologize, and check if they were ok in the moment? You hit-and-ran and now you want them to give them a pizza?? WTF…… (?!??) 👎🏻

Wind is a myth. All the leaves move at the same time to mimic wind. Leaves aren’t real either.

It’s not always the candidate texting you! Sometimes it’s an endorsing organization and the candidate has no knowledge of it. Please don’t base your vote on wether or not you get a text message, there are much more important distinctions between candidates to base your vote on

Thanks for diagnosing my political brain rot! I’ve been wondering what that smell was! I guess the best treatment for that is to stick my head in the sand while ultra right-wing Christian nationalists get elected to local school Committees and start banning books and firing gay teachers. At least I won’t have to see any of those pesky text messages ! 😄👍

That’s not true. Undecided voters especially in local and state elections are a much larger group than that, and the campaigning makes a huge difference in elections. Maybe try volunteering for a local campaign, it might change the way you see this.

What is? I mean. I know it’s annoying, but campaigns are annoying. Most mailers get thrown in the trash, most emails get deleted, most voters don’t actually watch debates and forums, and candidates can’t physically knock on every door. They have to reach voters somehow. How would you suggest they do that without being annoying?

Sometimes an organization that endorses a candidate, like a local union or planned parenthood or something will text on behalf of a candidate without the candidate’s knowledge. So please don’t let the mild annoyance of a text turn you off from a good candidate! The midterms and local elections are crucial and people are trying to use every tool they have to get their messages heard

Yeah, Not every campaign does it, unfortunately. Some just text any number they can find

Hot tip: if you vote early at your town/city hall, most organized campaigns will filter out those who have already voted and you’ll avoid the majority of the GOTV campaign text messages and phone calls.

They’re both awful. So sad that these two are our choices this year. This is why we need rank choice primaries. Literally any of the other Dems would have been better than McKee on the debate stage, and certainly in office. I’m still going to vote for him, because Ashley Kalus is an insincere opportunist riding the coattails of an insurrection for her own personal gain vs McKee who is just a bag of wind but at least he votes the right way on most things. (Not all things though!) this election is sad. RI can do way better. I hope everyone who complains about elections on Reddit gets involved volunteering for campaigns IRL

No need to pit elder voters against youth voters! Both perspectives matter a great deal.

Good for you- I hope you continue to find ways to get your feet under you and that you find supportive services and people to help you on your journey. It is totally reasonable that you see voting as a necessary part of your survival too, because it is. And bravo for you for including it in your plan. It may, in fact, be too late this time… but you might be able to cast a provisional ballot (?) and I agree with the earlier commenter who said that checking in with Crossroads is probably a good place to start. You can also call the RI board of elections and see if they have any advice. The staff there is super helpful 401-222-2345. Honestly even bringing up the conversation here, and asking the questions to the BOE is a form of advocacy because it keeps people having voter access conversations thinking about specific situations like the one you are describing. ❤️ good luck to you and cheers for all the good work you’ve already done.

Call Open Door Health- they are a gender affirming health center, they do not offer mental health services but can provide referrals to trans-friendly providers.
