Reply to Power Outages by geekpgh
They can't put linemen up the power poles until gusts drop below 35MPH for safety. Once that happens, they will start working through the outage areas. Larger outage areas usually get tended to first. Ones that are out because of trees down on private property can take longer if access is an issue. There were over 50k customers without power at the height of the outages, so yeah, it's going to take some time. Glad you all are prepared. Sorry you'll lose the food, especially with how expensive groceries are as of late.

Reply to comment by cpr4life8 in What is the rationale when bikers go to the front of a line of cars? by TonyUncleJohnny412
The only time I was ever hit on my motorcycle was at a stop sign and the yo-yo behind me just bumped into me, but yes, it was startling (only bent my license plate, fortunately.) But when I rode, in traffic at a stop sign or light, I was always taught to move to the left side, within my lane, where I was stopped. That way, I would be right in front of the driver's face behind me (so they would hipefully notice me), and, if a rear end collision was imminent, I would have an escape path closer than being in the center of the lane.

The answer would also largely depend on from where you are coming... someone moving here from LA is going to view it differently than someone moving from, say, Detroit.

- I tip about 10%, because someone had to prepare and package my meal up... might have taken them away from waiting on another table. I appreciate the effort that goes into making the order right. They usually have a tip jar at the counter where I pick up so I prefer to tip them in cash.
- I don't order pizza to be delivered, but I do door dash. I am a little far out, so I put a good tip on the order so the driver will want to pick up my order and deliver it. Usually 20%, sometimes more. Gas is expensive and I appreciate them bringing my food so I don't have to go out after it.
- This is why your phone has a calculator and you can ignore the suggested percentages and figure out what you are comfortable with. But I start at 20% and go up or down from there, based on the quality of the service. Again, I prefer to do the tip in cash, even if I am paying with a card.

It is closed now, but we used McNeish in Shadyside about 8 years ago to do custom wedding bands. Our goldsmith/designer we worked with was Kerry Cohagen. I don't know if he is still in the area working for another shop, but if you can find him, he was great to work with through the whole process and we ended up with the most wonderful, personalized design.

Reply to Tail light cover broken. Need a cheap shop to take it to get the job done. Recommendations? by [deleted]
You are better off to do it yourself. Go to carparts dot com and search for your year make and model of taillight. They have just the covers for some makes/models. Any shop you take it to is going to have to order the part and you'll be waiting anyways.... why not just try it yourself? YouTube videos would show you how. Trust in yourself to try to do something you normally might not try!

Your brother has the right to speak to his insurance company, his county advocate (ombudsman), and his attorney. Unless he signed an information release (ROI) for one of you, you can't speak to any of those folks on his behalf. But if HE asks to speak to any of the above, they have to give him the phone to speak to them. He has that right as the patient. That doesn't mean they can get him released, but they may be able to talk him through the process so he knows what to expect. WPIC is not going to let you in to visit because his anxiety may be related to his family... they don't know, especially if he "hasn't been seen by a doctor " as you stated. And a friend who would know (former WPIC employee) tells me that he was seen by someone in order to leave the ER and be admitted. It may have been a PA or a CNP, but someone determined he needed to be admitted.

January 28th... I know because I had a dentist appointment at 7am on Forbes. I normally would have been taking that bridge up Forbes from S. Braddock, but because of the snow, I stayed on the Parkway. Instead of getting off at Edgewood/Swissvale, I took the parkway to the Squirrel Hill exit instead. I arrived early for my appointment, and while waiting in the parking lot, started seeing tons of cop cars and ambulances heading down Forbes. Heard about it when I was in the dentist's chair. I would have been going over it about when it collapsed if it wasn't for the snow that morning. I still get a little chill down my spine thinking about it.

Don't use that one... that's my parking chair!!! (Usually said to a visitor who sees it on the front porch and wants to mistakenly use it for sitting.)

Reply to comment by SxS_XB in Why are traffic lights in Pittsburgh timed so poorly? by rickyrichboy
Except for the lights at 22/48... when they changed those, it totally forked the intersection. When they change has no pattern, and sometimes they are green for 10 seconds, then back to red while cars are still waiting for a turn. It is insanity, so I avoid it if I can.

The Pirates Clubhouse Store at PNC Park is closed today, but open Friday and Saturday from 9am - 5:30pm.
The Steeler Pro Shop at Acrisure Stadium is also closed today, but is open tomorrow from 10:00am - 5:00pm.
Unfortunately, the Penguins Pens Gear Shop at PPG is closed both today and Friday, isn't open on Saturday or Sunday, and will open again on Monday at 10:00am.
All of that said, you can find gear for all three sports teams at just about any large department store in the Pittsburgh area. Or try the strip district, where you can find stores like Yinzers in the Burgh (usual hours 9am - 5pm, Saturdays 8am - 6pm). Can't see anything online about if they are open or closed today or tomorrow. Also Black and Gold forever in the strip. Unknown if open today or tomorrow, but if so, hours would be 10am - 3pm. Saturday hours are 8am - 4pm, Sunday 9am - 4pm.
Good luck and enjoy your visit.

My neighbor has already mowed... twice now. But he is crazy like that. I have a small patch in my backboard, that if I waited until Memorial Day, would be over 2 feet tall. Not sure Memorial Day is a realistic goal.
