I'm heading home to Louisiana Sunday and wanted to grab some things. The last time I was here I grabbed some stuff from the General store in Newbury but I wanna try another place or two to see if they have even more varied merchandise.

I was gonna head to White River Junction and Middlebury tomorrow so was hoping there might be something in that general vicinity.

If you can make it to Warren, that is my favorite general store in all of vermont. Cozy little nook and a gorgeous drive there.

Chapmans, Kev. It's in Fairlee. Walk in beer cooler full of VT beers.

Dan & Whits in Norwich (two exits north of WRJ and worth it) - huge, authentic general store plus the King Arthur Flour outlet and bake shop is just down the road - loads of cool things to take home. Safe travels!

Dakin Farm in Charlotte has great foodstuffs as well as some gifts and apparel! Might be on your way to Middlebury depending on your route.

Dan & Whits, Exit 13, I-91 North in Norwich VT. Make sure you get into the back area - the part that looks like your grand-dad's old garage. That;s where they keep the best stuff.

Since you're passing through Middlebury, stop and see us on Main St - Vermont's Own Gifts & Goods. www.vtsown.com Say hi! Have a safe trip!

Seconding Vermont’s Own as an impartial 3 party (except for the fact I lived above the store for a few years)! It has a great variety of Vermont crafted items and food! And while in Midd you could also check out Sweet Cecile (some local items) and Danforth Pewter. The Midd Co-Op also has a nice range of locally produced food as well!

Ripton country store, since you'll be down in the area

Edit: hit it up when you go over the gap.

Wrj and Middlebury in the same day? Really going hard on the “can’t get there from here” experience.

If you take route 7 to Middlebury you’ll pass Dakin Farm in Ferrisburg, I’ve gotten a lot of gifts there

Gillingham's in Woodstock is near WRJ and is a quintessential general store for this kind of thing.

Wherever you stop be sure to take home Champlain Valley Apiaries honey. Don’t forget syrup, and if you can find it, Plymouth Cheese.

OMG I was so excited to give my brother a big ol glass bear of maple syrup for Christmas and his California girlfriend was complaining so much about how the fake stuff is better! Do they not have culture outside of VT??

There’s a big antique mall in White River Junction that’s connected to a couple souvenir stores (and a weird toy museum and small alpaca farm)
