Sometimes bacteria is helpful and living in harmony. Sometimes bacteria is harmful and causing an infection.

We can in fact be colonized with MRSA and with Pseudomonas but they aren’t causing harm.

How can you tell? Well symptoms and by exam. If you have pain, swelling, pus it’s an infection. If the skin looks fine, then the bacteria is actually not doing anything.

MRSA can colonize the nares (nasal passages) and the skin.

Pseudomonas can be in the nose and throat as well.

Source- me; am a doctor and take care of these things daily.

Personally, I think there are MANY people who stiff their dogs. Typically, smaller dogs like Dachshunds, Chihuahuas, even Corgis.

The whole reason for this post was my wife talking about how her Chihuahua smells like corn chips. I wanted to know why, and I found out.

Also to all the “who the hell is sniffing dog paws!? Wtf!”…..I do bc I like being cuddly and goofy with my buddy and sometimes a foot sniffin happens….being together 12 years tends to do that

Pseudomonas is interesting. It can cause some serious infections. Can be resistant to a lot of antibiotics. Can be associated with hot tubs. If you get a rash after going hot tub, it’s probably pseudomonas. Hot tub follicular is.

A luxury we allergy-free superhumans can enjoy. My inferior brother who is allergic to cats and dogs and pretty much everything with fur would cringe at the thought. I like to take a handful of fluff from my pomeranian mix and rub it all over my eyes..."Hey bro, does THIS bother you?"

My Pom has some poodle in him so he is delightfully hypoallergenic but I still like to torture my older brother. Really I should be holding him down and rubbing cats all over his face for all the years or torment and bullying I endured during his regime as the oldest brother :P

For real. I think some people have dogs just to check a box, and don't really care to cuddle or spend time with them. I want my dog close to me on the couch and in my bed at all times. Some people have furniture rules but I sure hope they put in time playing and cuddling with the poor dog, because not being allowed to be in the pack is a very lonely existence for a dog.

We are just different animals. Cats feet don't smell like fritos either and they are in same environment barefoot. It is just a doggo thing.

Our dogs rarely bathe and wear no deodorant but their armpits don't smell because they don't sweat. Just different animals, that's all :)

It’s a wonderful smell. We had a giant lab that I called “Taco top” because the top of her head smelt like a corn tortilla. Years later my wife and I still get a little emotional if at a Mexican restaurant and catch that aroma. Our other dog I called “copper head”. The top of his head always smelt like copper or metallic. But that poor puppy had may medical issues.

there are hundreds if not thousands of pseudomonas species out there... some of which live inside your gut as resident bacteria. Some of them create antibiotics.

Psuedomonas aeruginosa? sure bad... but not all species are P. aeruginosa.
