I would look there or Greene County, or the City of Springfield because you might not get as great pay but you get 40 hour work weeks and defined benefits.
It takes about a month but it's well worth it. They'll give you every benefit under the sun. Weekends off, holidays off, and snow days. Custodians DO work summers so you dont have to worry about that. FREEDOM OUT THE WAZOO as long as you're getting your tasks done.
YES! One reason I stay. Plus there's no supervisor over your shoulder anymore, because like you said as long as your tasks are complete at the end of your shift, you are golden
I will say custodial is one of the only non pro positions like this. Dont expect another department to be the same.
That's for sure, all others watch you like a hawk. So to me it doesn't seem to bad half of the time

That’s definitely good money, I made $38K as a Store Manager. What all does the work entail?
[deleted]
Yeah, I was being slave worked at Boost. They definitely sold it to me though when I was working at Metro and made it sound so much better. That was so far from the truth, I hate that I listened. But you live and learn, I just need to find something good again.
Expedia hires most departments starting at or around 20/hr
I’ll check them out now, thank you for the mention.
Do you work there?
Yes
Any advice for getting on there?
If you see a listing you want, let me know and I'm happy to send a referral. They look at those first.
I'm interested...moving back to Missouri and have been looking on Indeed but it's hit or miss.
Lkq remanufacturing starts out at over $16 an hour. 10 hour days, half day Friday sometimes for overtime. No Saturdays or Sundays. No second shift, 6am to 4:30. No experience necessary.
Reliable? I work for sps, I like it a lot. Highly recommend it.
SPS? Sorry I’m horrible with abbreviations. 😂
Public school district. Someone else commented the same thing.
If you don’t mind phones, chase hires every few months and they usually start around $18.
Thanks for the thought! I’ll check it out!
Chase actually starts closer to 20-22 an hour now - if you have management experience could be more as it would be considered customer service experience
Would you have any tips for the hiring process? Thank you 😊
Sounds like you can stomach retail. A lot of retailers hire assistant managers and pay 38k or more. I did it for years..its tough work, but reliable and steady.
I’m willing to get through the mental strain haha, it’s all work is how I see it. But I mean dealing with Karen’s EVERYDAY at McDonald’s and the little to no training you get just doesn’t work for me lol. But I need to find something before I leave.
O'Reilly corporate is always hiring in one department or another. Wages vary by position, but one huge advantage when you apply is you only need to fill out their online profile once and then you can apply for multiple positions. My initial application was for like 9 different things and I got a call back on 2 of them.
Tailwind Concessions (the airport bar) is hiring managers. $50000 a year, 45 hours a week min if anyone interested. They're also hiring staff positions, cooks get 16, cashiers 14 + tips. Tips are hit and miss, but leaving with $100+ isn't unheard of, especially in the summer. If any of you do apply please DM me so I can get a bonus when you're hired.
What’s the hours like? I love working food service, just can’t find a manager that actually wants to work with my hours and let me work days lol.
Morning shift is 4am to 11am or noon. "Night" shift starts at 11am and goes until the last flight, which averages 8, but can be later with Delays.
4-11 sounds nice honestly haha.
It's not bad really if you can handle getting up. It's fast paced barista/cashiers stuff I do mostly. It's probably one of a handful of food service jobs that don't include a wall of tablets for door dash etc.
Is it pretty busy out there! You can imagine working at McDonald’s I see some fast paced stuff! 😂
Oh yeah, and people are on a time limit because they have board. You have to be able to keep your head about you when people get dumb. Fortunately there's TSA about so people behave, but there's a bar so there will be dummies.
A couple of my coworkers met Rob Schneider and he gave autographs and took a few pics, Pauly Shore was like "leave me the hell alone".
Just DM'd you
Amazon is hiring. Insurance starts day 1 and after 90 days you can go to college and they pay for it 100%
Amazon but it’s 10 hr days and they start I think at 16.00
In Springfield?
Republic
Drury has lots of openings. Pay depends on the positions, but the benefits are pretty good.
Thank you, I’ll check them out! Any experience needed?
I know for a fact that some MSU employees can take free classes and their children are eligible for scholarships. Idk if Drury is the same but I've thought about this a lot.
Drury is free after 1 year for employees. Your dependents are I think 50% off after one year, then 75% at 2, and 100% at 3 years. It works for undergrad and graduate/certificate courses.
I mean I’d definitely consider it! I’m wanting to go back to school to be a Chef, but I just need to get back on my feet job wise first.
Not for most of the jobs. There are some more specialized ones that would prefer certain experience, but I’m sure with your work experience you could find something.
Honestly the rental car industry isn't bad
If you are wanting to change directions in life, the ARC of the Ozarks has openings. You'd most likely be working with adults with mental and/or physical disabilities. All training is provided and paid for my the company. Depending upon the department and program, starting pay is anywhere from $16/hr to $20.50/hr. Once again depending upon the department could also be 1st, 2nd or 3rd shift. Need a valid driver's license, insured car and no drug, finance or domestic abuse convictions.

We're needing some extreme help at the new Dublins Pass on Battlefield that just opened. Pay is one of top for hourly and the owners are amazing to work with.
Where do I apply!
Come in for an application, check out the facebook page, I believe there's a link to the indeed listing or go to indeed 😊

Springfield Public Schools are hiring, just pick what you would like, pretty much every department is hiring. Just search up what you want. I know custodial starts at $15 and benefits start right away. There's retirement plans, medical insurance and so on. It would be nights though, and it is cleaning but it is a good job. If you are interested you can apply here:https://spsmo.tedk12.com/hire/index.aspx It does take some time to get started, but it is worth it.
