I saw something similar the other day super early morning. This may sound crazy but: I suspect state police may be conducting a series of training exercises for incoming rookies or something. But I'm probably wrong... crime is definitely on the rise here and across the nation.

Shutting down a highway for a certain amount of time is considered a state of emergency that's required to be reported to the state.

No emergency service agency is going to be shutting down highways during rush hour for training.

According to the FBI violent crime is down 1% from last year. I know some sources would.have you believe otherwise.

Annual crime statistics are going to be full of high frequency noise.

For example, if you look at crime data since 2011, crime is trending upwards, but if you look at crime data since 2000, crime has plummeted dramatically and the current upward trend is just a hiccup compared to the significant downward trend overall.

But then that's not good clickbait.

I read crime is actually rising in some red states but on average it’s decreased slightly. Economic conditions are tough right now, I would expect to see some increase in crime as a result. It’s hard to put the brakes on all the stimulus that took place during COVID, and I think the Biden admin should have taken steps sooner. It would have been just as unpopular in the first weeks of his term as it is now.

I don't understand your comment... You read crime is down slightly but you expect economic conditions to make it increase? Economic conditions have been tough over the past several years, yet by your own admission there has been a decrease in crime...

You think the stimulus checks cause increased crime?

I want some of whatever you're smoking.

Though I don't agree with him I think what he is saying that stopping stimulus money will make those of us that actually got it because we needed it will resort to crime to maintain the extravagant lifestyle that we have grew so accustomed to back before March of 2021 when we got our last check.

At least that's what I take it to mean.

"all the stimulus" is all I needed to see. A 1400 check 2 years ago didn't do shit, my dude.

You’re talking about the stimulus checks? You do realize a lot more than that went on, right? Those checks were just a tiny fraction of the money recklessly dumped into the economy.

Sir I’ve been called many things, but never conservative.

Why would I be bashing the Trump admin’s handling of COVID stimulus and fiscal policies in general that poured gasoline on the economy for short term political gain at the expense of long term growth and greatly increased chances of triggering a recession if I were a brainwashed conservative? You do realize this whole thing was set in motion before Biden even took office? And that being critical of what’s happening doesn’t necessarily make me political? The Biden admin was left with a shit sandwich. But it needs to eat it, not keep kicking it down the line.

Crime is not increasing. You might just consume a lot of fear based “news”

Hate crimes are rising sharply. That might be what's driving such a steep increase.

The current upward trench is not necessarily indicative of anything particular other than random statistical variations, since the larger trend over the last 25 years is that violent crime is down tremendously.

  1. Go back to Facebook.

  2. Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama, Missouri, and Arkansas have the highest murder rates per capita despite the propaganda you consume as news claiming it's New York, California, and Illinois.

I’d also just like to point out that bail reform doesn’t increase the crime rate since anyone with money or connection to a bail bond company can get out on bail while they await trial.

Another reminder. In our legal system, being charged with a crime doesn’t mean you’re guilty of a crime. That’s what a trial is for.

Just trying to shut down disinformation before it spreads.
