I recently got my car transferred back to my name and registered in PA, so now I need to do an inspection.

Should I just type inspection on google maps and pick one that has good ratings and is open on weekends?

Should I just do it on a weekday? That would mean it has to be the one close to my apartment, so that I can take it there during my lunch break and walk back home and work.

Or is there a better way?

Pick someplace and go, but by god, call and try to make an appointment. Plenty of shops are running low on mechanics and might not have a slot available right away.

Nope, no secret. Sometimes finding a good place is trial and error, but the availability of reviews is a good equalizer.

If you edit your comment with a general location, maybe some folks will have good recs. Pretty sure can search the sub and find some, as well.

i take mine to hubers in the southside. they are quick and cheap, just call to set up a time.

If you work fairly traditional hours your best bet might be to call around for a drop off appointment. Many if not most places have a key drop so you can leave it there before opening or the evening before (just keep in mind they also need your registration, insurance and wheel lock key if you have one). Depending on when they finish, you then just pick it up at lunch or near closing time.
