I'm guessing that has to do more with the number of locations rather than the performance of a single store

Also, it's by sales. When I go to TJs and walk out with a couple of bags, it's always like half the price as getting (what seems to be) the same amount at Giant. Not to mention the amount people are buying at a Giant/ShopRite/Walmart vs TJs - I see over-flowing carts for big families at Giant and more conservative hauls at TJs (albeit the selection is more limited).

I do ShopRite/Aldi/TJ for weekly and Costco for monthly. Kirkland forever.

They thrive in California tho. Trader Joe's is #1 there.
