How else would the smug suburbanites get their daily dose of Philadelphia drama

I love how city news decisions are blamed on the suburbs

It’s almost like a lot of people live in the Philly area besides just Philly itself 😮

They don’t sit around taking hours of extra footage specifically for the suburbs. It’s news. The city gets the same shit. They’d still be there without the suburbs.

I think the point they were making is that the news feeds into the suburban viewers' mentality that the city is dangerous and chaotic, so the footage of this crash is for them.

Just because somehow this seems controversial to some, here's an absolute fuckton of evidence the inquirer put together to support your viewpoint
besides the heart and lung cop thing, this is one of the best things they've put together in the last few years.

It’s the same news. It’s what happened today that’s interesting in the area. It’d still be reported on
The commissioner got into a car accident. That’s news. City or suburbs. Media video footage is a part of news.

You realize the news chooses what content to cover based on what will get the highest ratings, right? It's not some altruistic entity of truth and equality.
PhillyPanda t1_je7iml6 wrote
You realize the news is going to cover major news of high ranking city officials that gets attention in both cities and suburbs?
I guess the alternative would be the city is largely uneducated vs suburbs and doesn’t care about the news? As someone who does live in the city, I’m happy for the suburban folk allowing me as a city resident to hear about the city news.

Yes but the point was... eh forget it lol
PhillyPanda t1_je7jfzk wrote
Lol the point is the helicopters are here for the city and suburbs, not one or the other.

Talk about woosh lol. At least you tried man.

Yeah but the news stations know the suburbanites don’t wanna hear a daily dose of crime near them. They know the suburbanites wanna hear about the crime in the city proper. It helps them feel good about living outside the city. Benefiting from working or being in proximity to the city.. But being able to stay far enough to not have to care about the needs of the city.

Very defensive for someone whose not at fault from the suburbs 🤔
PhillyPanda t1_jeb1is3 wrote
I live in rittenhouse. I just understand that it’s not the residents of Lower Merion’s fault or wherever’s fault when a helicopter circles my neighborhood

Sounds like a suburbanite to me
PhillyPanda t1_jeb4jh6 wrote
I guess if that’s what you want to call people who live in philly, you do you.
billontheinternet t1_jeb4ud9 wrote
Nope, you can’t trick me
PhillyPanda t1_je7f79a wrote
Acting like the city news helicopters are only there bc of the surrounding area is obtuse.

The Philly Metro media market is overwhelmingly suburban and stretches from Allentown to Dover.

Mad crime happens in the burbs and jersey townships but never leads or even gets reported. City always gets the shit report.
