This is extremely hopeful for the Iranian people. She is famous and internationally known and she just quit working to dedicate 100% of her time and resources supporting the movement in the most visible way possible just days after they announced they will be executing protesters. This is some incredible courage, patriotism, and love of freedom. She is staying in the country and protesting knowing she may die.

This is a very serious issue, but I have to say I really appreciate you in this moment.

Men must stop hiding behind religion as their excuse to abuse women (forcing women to wear headscarfs is abuse)! Men, go ahead and wear headscarfs if you wish.

Awww thats cute, you still think religion is blameless.

Religion doesn't kill people, religious zealots do.

And why are those zealots throwing rocks at gay people until they die?

Oh yeah it's the religion telling them to.

Fuck Islam (and all religion, tbh). The concept of hiding women under scarfs is a human rights violation.

respectfully dude, fuck that. it’s the regime not the religion, please read a book (one in particular i might suggest).

For 4 Rakaas Salat like a Dhuhur for example, for the first two I'd recite 1-2 Suras besides the Fatiha (usually Alkursi & kafirun) , the 3rd and 4th only Al fatiha. I used to also do the sunnah rakaat and pray Al fajir on time. Fridays in the mosque for al jumaah lecture. I've done Hajj and Umra. I was a religious freak and extremely conservative scoring 96% in the Islam study during my last year in school (Tawjihi).

So unhinged lmao. Just gonna address two things.

1- It's been 8 years since I last did all that nonsense so me saying Sura instead of Ayya isn't a big deal. Reading an Aya works just fine assuming you can read Arabic

2- In Jordan ,where I grew up, studying Islam is mandatory for all Muslims throughout school including high-school (Tawjihi)

Not gonna bother with the rest as I can clearly see you're a brain washed fuck and I've had my share of zealots. I hope you can also grow up one day.

ShironeWasTaken t1_ivueocu wrote

Two, surat al fatiha, and then one of your choice.

Not everyone who's ex Muslim is faking it or hasn't studied religion dude

5

XPaarthurnaxX t1_ivugm61 wrote

I have and I answered him. I was way more religious than the average Muslim and grew up incredibly adherent to the religion. So yeah he can also fuck off 🙄

7

ShironeWasTaken t1_ivui5eh wrote

Yeah, I grew up in a Muslim country and studied and practiced religion for a very long time.

It just never clicked. But these guys believing that everyone saying they're ex-muslim is faking is so disingenuous and annoying

6

XPaarthurnaxX t1_ivuj98c wrote

Yep, incredibly annoying. The "These guys don't represent Islam/Muslims" crowd piss me off the most. Islam even going just by the Quraan (ignoring Hadith and Fatwa) is incredibly extreme (like all relgions).

The average Muslims who are not religious act as the perfect incubator for extremists, the Jumaah lectures that they attend are bat shit crazy for example.

Anyways, glad you were able to break them mental shackles. Wish you good luck!

I’ve heard that some women would prefer actor instead of actress. Not sure why.

feluriell t1_ivsxb45 wrote

Its a thing from gendered languages. (probably)

Example: In german, the whole personal pronoun thing is a bit difficult to bring into the language, because every noun has a gendered pronoun. "Die sonne", the sun is female. "Der mond", the moon is male.

Although there is a push to add "*innen" to professions, making it clear that it is non gender specific, it isnt catching on because the language has prescriptive genders for nouns anyway. Its a confusing system wothout rules and each noun has it's own gender. Just gotta learn which is which. No guide to it, so adding a guide makes it messy...

In the example of actor, it would be "schauspieler" or "schauspieler*innen". In writing this is functional, but in direct usage of the language it is absurd.

I can only assume that she says this because of something similar OR because she wishes to be equated with the male term, rather than having a special title for her gender. Makes sense either way, its her call. 😅
