If it's a disorderly person's offense the comedian would be the one who needs to sign the complaint, not the police.

Police only sign them if the act is done within their presence, with very few exceptions to that, such as domestic violence.

So you didn’t read the article starting they didn’t pursue charges because she didn’t want to press. Made some dumb misinformed comment. Got politely corrected, and still stood by your (wrong) statement.
