People seem to be under the impression that you'll be staring up at them from the edge of the waters. I don't think there's an appreciation for how far 15 miles is.
Long Beach Island is 18ish miles long. From the top of the waterslides in Beach Haven, you can't see the lighthouse in Barnegat Light. Windmills would be the same.

Exactly. Lewes has a turbine on the beach that Uof Delaware owns. It's about the same distance to Cape May. I know exactly where it is and 90% of the time it is visible it takes a me a minute to find it on the horizon and you can barely see it. More often than not it is too hazy to see.
