This case has Charles Stewart vibes to it. The husband was charged with selling counterfeit art last year, probably had a side piece like Stewart. I’ll be shocked if it’s not the husband.

I know it sounds weird, and hard to believe - but listen to a few dozen dateline cases. Maybe 10% of them have the husband arrested and on trial before they actually find who did it. This person above isn’t wrong. You HAVE to talk to a lawyer as early on as possible. Absolutely have to.
Edit: eh I’ll lower the percentage, not sure it’s as high as the original
You-Enjoy-Myself t1_j466yyx wrote

[deleted] t1_j3js6aw wrote
BUT rich people get more wiggle room. For sure. Nationwide.
ExpatJundi t1_j3jslvo wrote
I mean it's certainly better to be rich in basically every facet of life, but Massachusetts is absolutely full of poor people who have been charged with dozens of fairly serious crimes and had the charges dropped dismissed for the flimsiest of reasons.
[deleted] t1_j3jt4uh wrote
Agreed, but rich people get away with way more, and that is more of a problem to me.
ExpatJundi t1_j3jtg3m wrote
I would have to say that this is something that sounds true and is easy to believe but without some sort of rigorous academic study we're both just stating opinions. Mine is informed by being a police officer who deals with criminals and the courts and looks at criminal histories every day but of course it is still only an informed opinion.

So he killed his wife even though he would be locked up soon and away from her anyways? I don’t get what his motive was at all. Wonder if he just snapped? Sounds like his house of cards came swiftly tumbling down, and it destroyed the lives of his whole family.
Ajgrob t1_j3m2hml wrote
I'm sure we'll find out motive at some point and with this arrest and local searches it certainly seems like it could be that the wife was murdered.

if you do a records search, their mortgage was set up (in her name) as a revolving line of credit with him on the deed as a homesteader. if he had “borrowed” against that without telling her, it is possible he could have spent a fair amount of money. maybe he did and she found out about it?

She had a flight booked for the 3rd, but apparently decided to go on the 1st instead to deal with a work issue. There’s been no evidence that she left the home in a ride share early that morning, as well as no neighborhood home security footage (like Nest). I can understand her work not reporting her missing for a couple of days, especially since she was based in DC. But how could her husband not say anything? The second I saw that I figured he had to be involved.

It's part of MA law (https://www.mass.gov/doc/7365-intentionally-misleading-an-investigator-in-a-criminal-investigation-gl-c-268-s13b/download). While it sounds a lot like obstruction, I'm not a lawyer and don't know if there is any difference.
ExpatJundi t1_j3jrrw2 wrote
It's basically obstruction, the elements of the crime were recently tightened up quite a bit by the Supreme Judicial Court making it even harder to charge people over lying to the police.

Any possibility she had a private arrangement (off the record) with an Uber driver for pickup? And something went terribly wrong. That's the only other scenario I can think of.
