First of all, if you come, welcome! Escapee transplants are wicked awesome!

Firstuball, the drawbacks. Cost of housing. This is an expensive place to live, but out here in western massachusetts, ESPECIALLY the pioneer valley you can get both rural and liberal. Up in the hill towns we have plenty of affordable homes with lots of land, and lots of good people. There are couple of qanon hotbeds so, as long as you steer clear of those towns (think orange, athol), you'll be good.

Everything else? Net positive. Healthcare is accessible, even in the rural areas. People mind their business but if you need help from your neighbors, they show up in droves. Also the same person who will immediately bring you inside and get you clothes and place to sleep if your house catches on fire in the middle of the night will happily yell 'yeah, go fuck yourself!' if they feel you have offended them in traffic. Be aware. It's not personal lol.

The school systems are overall quite well paying, but our teaching licensure is more rigorous than almost anywhere else so you/your partner will want to start researching what they need to do. You/your partner will not have difficulty finding work as a pediatric therapist, either.

We have art, we have theatre, we have nature that'll knock your socks off. We have fantastic museums. We have higher ed coming out our buttholes if you want to go back to school. Our public schools are number 1 in the country if you're planning on spawning lil beasts.

Should i put larger spaces between the words? This isn't hard to understand. It *reduces access*. Predators seek access to victims. They seek the quickest way to achieve access to their victims. By increasing the difficulty of the barrier to the position, you are going to turn away people who don't have a genuine vested interest in the work.

It's absolutely not saturated. Our district is hiring....everyone. LOL. I don't think your wife will have ANY trouble finding a position. Keep in mind teaching licensure is pretty demanding in MA compared to most states so she should definitely start figuring out what she'll need to do now.

Welcome to the hippy, happy, Pioneer Valley! We do weird shit here, and it's a great place to live imo.

I'm pretty comfortable saying that in general, out of school suspension is

A. not a consequence for a legitimate trouble maker

B. simply allows school and staff to ignore the actual problem

C. Kicks the can down the road because the kid who can't stay out of trouble in school, who doesn't end up getting a good education because after x number of suspensions he inevitably drops out, simply becomes a problem for society in general

Don't get me wrong. I feel you. I 100% support school teachers, teacher's unions, and public schools. I *believe* in public education.

You wanna strike because your district has an unmitigated discipline problem? I'll be right there next to you holding a sign.

But you're making a mistake and conflating suspension with effective discipline. It ISNT. Evidence on that is pretty damn clear.

Bring in more staff. Make sure classes are small and paras are plentiful. Create an environment of mutual respect and trust. Protect the kids who really want to learn. But don't just kick out the problem kiddos. There's got to be a better solution.

Not just related to this but it's really disturbing to me how little can be done about openly biased or nutball judges.

This guy clearly isn't fit to run a basement, let alone a housing court, but other than reprimanding him what's to be done? He deleted his facebook account, now he's just a vile bigoted wanker who is....still a judge.

Another recent example: Judge Bruce Schroeder.

Also thinking about Mark Ciavarella and Michael Conahan. Sure they were eventually caught and even prosecuted but how many lives did they ruin, how much needless suffering did they cause, while they were untouchable?

Ok so Ms Judith Garcia is missing a few of her more important screws. Jaysus Lucifer Christ.

How about just make it possible for prisoners to donate blood or organs to their loved ones only without any kind of pay?

There's absolutely no way this will pass. Tying organ donation to compensation is strictly forbidden.

"Praying" is not going to help her. She's dead, which is not going to change, and 'praying' doesn't help anyone.

"sources" aren't finding more evidence. Police are.

This facebook-style 'make a tragedy about me' style of writing is gross, op.

....but.....some of them are shitholes. And they're shitholes by CHOICE, which makes it our right, nay, our DUTY, to comment on the shitholiness. It's punching up when you observe for example that florida is a shithole. Or texas. You show up to the ballot box and keep desantis and abbott on their tin thrones, you choose shitholiness. And other people get to make fun of you for it.

At least since the 40s it's been 617/413 I wasn't here when/if there was just the one, but i remember the progression of first being able to call everyone in town by the last 4, then you had to dial all SEVEN numbers even IN town (gasps), and then central mas switched from 617 to 508 in the mid 80s.
