I'm not clear on what exactly your question is. But yes, I would say it's accurate to compare it to Breath of the Wild, except it's more of an RPG.
You drop your unspent XP points when you die, so you have to go back to retrieve them. But it's not really a big deal. It shouldn't factor into your decision to buy the game.

Unless you enjoy dying a lot and I mean a lot, again and again, maaaybe give something else a go.
It's a great game and has sooo many things going for it, but it is for people with godly amounts of patience.
I tried it first as a casual distraction and only managed to frustrate myself.

Yeah, it's about mindset more than anything. It's really difficult to beat if you perceive dying as loosing and if you get upset/frustrated about it.

It isn't that hard compared to the other souls games. Just don't spam the same attack and fight slower than you would in other games and you'll be fine. Like literally fine.

I wouldn't buy it. I am a die hard souls fan and if you aren't ready to play a souls game it's just not valuable. That said, i love those tyoed of games. I hate platforming but love hollow knight. Souls games are brutal as is hollow knight, but the games are more than the difficulty. It's the atmosphere and tension that the game builds solely thru a couple of mechanics. It's hard to explain, but if you are going to play for only an hour a day It's probably not going to be very fun or easy. The game is itself one giant puzzle. Fights are puzzles, the world is a puzzle. Nothing is very easy but if you are perceptive you can learn from those encounters quickly. If you, "get good". And it's really.that simple, the game is easy once you aquire the skill, but hard without.

>When I die, I go back to a save point, meaning I keep my stuff but lose some experience unless I go to where I died to get it?
You only lose the currency you had on you while you died, and you can reclaim it. Levels or equipment aren't lost
>I don't have a lot of time to constantly get good at games, but since it is single player, does that mean I can still enjoy it?
Absolutely, there are many features that help you in single player such as summons, plus most enemies, including bosses are very weak to one or two specific things that basically trivialize said enemies. For example some enemy can be very annoying and difficult to fight, but if you use any kind of Fire damage they'll get stunned for long enough for you to kill them. Some enemies take huge amount of damage from holy attacks, some are difficult with melee but trivial with ranged attacks. You get the idea, it's very RPGish.
Overall the game isn't difficult because it requires huge amount of skill or anything, it's difficult because many people get angry if they die and start making stupid mistakes, learning nothing in process. If you have the right mindset you'll realize the game is very beatable.
