The best neighborhood, is one you can afford, paying no more than 1/3 of your gross income towards rent & your commute ...

... so that you can actually put a decent amount into savings, especially tax-deferred retirement accounts. The best time to start saving for retirement is when that date still seems impossibly far away.

Pretty Jewish neighborhood = Brookline. But that commute sucks to Southie unless you’re driving and have guaranteed parking. Don’t let the short distance fool you.

Since budget apparently isn't an issue, I recommend the Seaport

I lived at the Avalon in East Cambridge from 25-29. It was great. I was a 10 dollar Uber / 10 minute ride to anywhere I wanted to be in Boston. Green line was also across the street. Great building. Lots of younger people and nice amenities.

Not Jewish, but had a lot of Jewish women guests at the building who lived in Brookline. They loved the indoor pool 👀

I was already thinking Southie before I even read that you were working there. Based on the fact that you are working there too, I would absolutely live in Southie or the South End (yes they are different). Brookline is great, but if you're working in the office 5 days a week I think you'd hate that commute. Cambridge would be doable as it is on the red line.

Fenway. It is so youthful and alive.

The commute to southie will probably involve a hop from the Green Line to the Red Line, but Brighton would probably be a good choice for this requirement. I lived in multiple apartments in Brighton ranging from close to Cleveland Circle, Brighton Center, and Oak Sq. I constantly had Jewish neighbors and it was very normal to see families walking around in full garb.

Depending on how many roommates you want, your budget should be fine in Brighton (depending on quality of apartment). Before I moved away, I shared a 2bd 1 bath apartment with my wife for only $1800 in 2018. The place was problematic, but we wanted a cheap place so we could save for a home.

Brighton is also filled with people your age. It's quieter than Allston, but close enough to enjoy what Allston offers without the crazy college kid antics.

Jewish neighborhoods = brookline (specifically Coolidge corner), Brighton/brookline (near Cleveland circle). Coolidge corner has kosher restaurants and judaica shops, etc. Cambridge also has a lot of young Jewish folks! Check out mamalehs deli, they often host events for the community.

West End. Check out One Canal or The Victor.

Somerville. It has everything you're looking for plus if you're on the red line it means an easy commute in to Boston. Brookline may be a more jewish neighborhood, but the commute there is awful because the green line is a bit of a pain compared to the red line. Same goes for Fenway area. If you live in Somerville you can still get to any of those areas by T or bus, but it's that morning commute that should be a key factor. Don't listen to the people telling you to live as close as possible to your work. When it comes to living there.. Southie does not have much for good T access and the rents are insane.

On that budget, Brighton/Allston is probably a good bet. Does anyone know what it's like taking the Framingham/Worcester Line to South Station from Boston Landing is like? It's zone 1A so it's not very expensive.

Just to be clear - some of what you list are neighborhoods IN Boston, and some are different cities/towns altogether.

Cambridge and much of Somerville have the North Charles Community Eruv.
