I'm visiting Boston over the weekend, and I definitely want to eat some bread there. I'm looking for good 100% whole grain bread, like sourdough, rye, german style, etc. If anyone has recommendations for areas nearby, like Everett or Cambridge for example, I'll definitely check those out as well!

Hi, do they slice it for you? I just moved from greenfield and we had a phenomenal bakery there, Rise Above. I noticed the bread lasts longer too. Iggys goes stale to quick and is just not dense like the bread I was used to. Does this bread last long also? Thanks.
Can’t answer either question. I like to slice my bread at home. And my wife and I go through a large baguette in 2-days; the whole wheat sourdough’s in 3.
I did get a lemon pound cake from Hi-Rise that I had for 14-days and I swear it was best on days 12-14.
Clear Flour does not slice their bread. It is fantastic, though.
No kneed to slice when you devour all of it in 3 seconds.

Iggy’s in Cambridge is awesome. Basically in the back of the industrial park north of concord Ave near fresh pond close to the Belmont border. Great bread (which can also be found in other local grocery stores) and pastries, and bomb pizza slices if you go around lunch time.

I second Clear Flour!! It's easy to get there off the Green B line (Packard's Corner stop) and they make lovely whole grain breads everyday. I highly recommend the dinkelbrot (made Tuesday, Wednesday, and Sundays after 1 pm) and kraftbrot (Fridays and Mondays), but you can't go wrong with anything there. Could be good to ask what's the latest out of the oven too as they bake bread all day!

Pemberton Farms in Cambridge has an incredible in-house baking company called "rose & lilac" they make really great breads. Give them a try.

Iggy's is not bad for American bread. I think LA Saison makes the best bread I've tried locally.

Boston isn't particularly known for its German bread bakeries. The few German bakeries I know are pastry shops like Bakehaus in Belmont.

Clear Flour Bread, right on the border of Brookline and Allston. When I lived around there the smell in the early morning was heavenly.
