I was so unimpressed with JBGB’s pizza. It was just OK.

jwseagles t1_iy0oydj wrote
While they may not have the greatest pizza in the city, I do still love JBGB’s because on top of the solid pizza, they they have plenty of other options that are all great from what I’ve tried. Awesome drink program too.
chalks777 t1_ixz9kk7 wrote
Yep, agreed on JBGB. I was hoping for top tier pizza given their pricing, but it's just... medium.

John Brown has 2 locations, 1 in the city and 1 in the county. That makes you sound like the idiot. Take a deep breath, you sound pretty wound up, we’re just discussing a butcher, christ.
narwhalDavidson t1_ixzoq4c wrote
Just tried JBGB. their crust was dry and tasteless, like eating burnt toast. Will have to give these a try

Paulie gees doesn't do wood fired anymore. They have the ovens but haven't used them since the pandemic for some reason.

Ok. So. I lived a block from Hersch's for a decade, and imho, their handmade pasta outshines their pizza 100%. Tasty pizza with good toppings, for sure, but reallllly soggy middles.
bvzxh t1_ixzpsd8 wrote
Is that the place that doesnt slice their pizza because “thats how Cesar ate it”?
cdbloosh t1_iy03fwh wrote
Yes, which is admittedly dumb, but you can just ask them to slice it and they will
bvzxh t1_iy09hug wrote
Gotcha! Yeah I went there a few years ago and admittedly was so annoyed we were given a butter knife with an uncut pizza. The flavors were really good tho, and good to know you can ask.
gaytee t1_iy0fjan wrote
I can’t be the only one that wouldn’t really be bothered if they mentioned it in the restaurant and I was like “okay sliced please”, but reading it online is just like….why be so annoying, if your food is good, you don’t need gimmicks like that.
jwseagles t1_iy0lpbq wrote
Not sure if gimmick is the word for it. They don’t slice pizza in Italy so them doing Neapolitan pizza unsliced is pretty reasonable.
Spaceghostster t1_iy1gm8k wrote
Also, not cutting the pizza helps it absorb as it cools so it doesn't get soggy
TheRealJewbilly t1_ixzxp4x wrote
Yes, slicing is optional.
