I was going to say the same thing. Oregon and Washington are neck and neck for best waterfalls. Oregon's coast is superior to Washington. Washington's mountains are far superior to Oregon's. That said, both States are gorgeous.

Agree for the most part. Wallowas in OR are pretty insane but honestly so far away from population centers in WA/ OR that they almost seem like Idaho

Don’t fret WA smokes us in the epic mountains category, and has great waterfalls. Just saying I think the waterfall hikes in Oregon hold an edge. Silver falls, Columbia River gorge, koosah/ Sahalie, tumalo, salt creek, Umpqua River to name a few

The most basic waterfall in WA is like a top 10 attraction in most states.
EverestMaher OP t1_iwtnhfh wrote
That honestly applies to everything in WA

I plan to move to WA in the next few years, because Alaska is just too far and Iceland isn't realistic for me. This, this is why I choose WA.
Btw if anyone has any pointers or reviews of the Mt Vernon area, I'd love to have someone I can ask about it

They stay beautiful when people stay on the designated paths made to enjoy them.
EverestMaher OP t1_iwvok5z wrote
I actually highly disagree with this. In many natural areas, the concentration of hikers on one line has created a path that may never heal, even in centuries. However, when people spread out and make little individual impact, the effect is negligible as plant life is meant to support the weight of wildlife.
The only time people ever complain about going off path damaging the landscape is when people create another path.

I think Oregon can give WA a good run for its money in the waterfall category.
